I am thinking about starting a second army and I decided to go with Tyranids. I want to make a list that fits the swarming horde feel. To do this I would like to build an army that does not have any special characters or anything above toughness 4 EDIT: with the excpetion of a Alpha Warriors, thanks for pointing that out . I know this won’t make a pro list, but I am shooting for a casual gaming list that is competitive enough that I have a decent chance of winning friendly games. I mostly play against Tau, Eldar and Space Marines. What do you think? Can it be done? What kind of units should I get?

what you need is troops. LOTS OF TROOPS

Green Tide and Infantry Blobbing. add in a tank or 2 for extra support and some anti tank here and there

Fun Nid swarm army:

Hq: Tervigon

troops: termigaunts x3
Tervigon x3

Everything else: Whatever you want.

The Tervigons are over T4, but you can use them to make Gaunts. And that's what'd I'd do every turn with them, Make Gaunts and do nothing else.

Imperial Guard might fit you perfectly. Just spam Guardsmen Platoons with Heavy/Special Weapons. You don't even NEED vehicles (they help, a lot, but not needed). Just spam Lascannons, Flamers for Hordes, through in some Storm Troopers as Tank Hunters maybe and just blob around. Lots of Commissars and Priests with powerfists/eviscerators are nice.

If you don't mind painting hundreds of cheap bugs, go for it! I'd love to fight against that kind of army, as playing "Starship Troopers" is always a fun game.

Well, as nids, just spam genestealers, termagants and hormagaunts. Wouldnt ever be able to kill tanks, but hell itd be a blast to verse.
