Im starting daemons but i also play fantasy, I know round wont work in fantasy, but would square bases cause issues in 40k?

prolly not more than making them easier to hit. When the old 40k radio did their "what army is best to start 40k with" one of them that was up there was Daemons because the army could be used in Fantasy.

Half of the reason im doing daemons is because i want to learn 40k, but also want to be able to use it as one of my fantasy armies.
Makes buying and working on all the models easier lol.

Nobody will complain. The bases are roughly the same size as 40k bases, so there shouldn't be an issue.
Or you could just magnetize em!

I thought about magnetizing them, but I sure wouldn't be able to fit magnets on their feet! (Great Unclean One, sure, but Daemonettes? Nooo....)
So, maybe glue them onto a round base and magnetizing that base to a square one? Sounds like a lot of work...

The correct question is, would I be enjoying this hobby if I did this?
The correct audience is you. |

For rank and file you could just put the 25mm round bases into a movement tray meant for 25mm square bases. I've seen it done.

ssRev makes a good point. Also I've seen people magnetize the round base to attach to the square base. However I feel I should warn you, daemons aren't all that great in 40k & I find the same army list seldom works in both games. Just saying as a heads up not to get discouraged with 40k if you don't do too well with daemons.

Trade rules: lower rep trades ships 1st. - I ship within 2 business days, if it will be longer I will contact you & explain. - I will NOT lie on customs forms, it's a felony, do not ask me to mark sales as "gifts". Free shipping applies to contiguous US states. |

You could use LotR movement trays and base them on round bases. Dunno how well they'd sync up to actual Fantasy ranks, but still it's an option.

The official rule is that you should use the bases they come with, and even that rule is iffy.
Note that Daemons come with both square and round bases.
So if anyone whines, you can just point that out.
Bottom line, square bases are just fine in 40k.

Its really a non-issue, if your opponent is adamant about it, consider not playing as he's probably an epic arsehole.
|
Also littlenibbler Orks aren't about armour saves.
Orks are about having too many models on the table, and wasting the other guy's time with your movement phase.
Orks are about having the toughest units on the table.
Orks are about not caring about how many bodies are left in a long winding trail until the squad is down to less than a third its starting strength.
Orks are about rolling more dice then you can count without the aid of a calculator or a pen and paper.
Orks are about having totally fething insane characters tearing gak down like Doc Grotsnik, Ghazghkull or Snikrot.
Orks are about being too fething awesome to die...

I have them on both square and round bases, as my eyes aren't so great and it helps me keep the little buggers in separate formations. No one has ever complained or frankly said anything at all about that.

Mine are all on round bases, but I find myself wishing I'd put them all on square bases, so I could use them in WHFB.
