There are 2 ways to interpret this:
The old Tyranid FAQ which states that they cancel each other out.
RoWarding vs RoWitnessing as said by the Eldar FAQ: Roll all 3, take the 2 lowest for purposes of pass or fail, and consider all 3 for purposes of perils.
I'm for the second because it makes more sense (the old Nid shadow was roll 3 and take the 2 highest, where as RoWarding is roll 3 and add, like the new shadow but with different perils rules).
