Back in 3rd edition I had a Dark Angels army. I quit when 4th edition came out (I didn't have time to play) and back in May got back into 40k. I had sold almost everything from my DA army, but I found my Land Raider Crusader in a box. Since I have started orks, there was only one thing to do!
I am super happy with how it turned out. I used leftover bitz from a Battlewagon (Ram and some of the gun mount bits) and a Trukk (the two optional back side walls). The painting is very smooth, despite the fact that I used a paint brush to apply everything. The lining could use some cleanup, but it's good for my level. I totally love how the lenses and the horns came out.

In addition to the exterior, I had originally painted the interior of the LRC. I didn't want to try and redo it with an assembled model, so when I primed after cutting and shaping, I masked off the interior. I also did not attach several pieces, such as the ladders, the doors, or the Deffrolla. I went back and magentized all of these so you could both see the interior more easily, and I could either put the Deffrolla in a lifted position or remove if my opponent doesn't want it to count as hull.

What, orks can't have nice things?
Do you know what those DA considered cleaning the LRC? They put a pine scented air freshener in it. Trust me, you smell DA who have been on campaign for a decade, and tell me you won't be desperate for soap!

I immediately thought TRON! Glare kills the effect, but in that first pic, it looks like the corners were lined with EL wire. It really does seem to glow. Not really my style (too... pretty?), but it's a cool paintjob on a solid conversion.

The first pic makes it look like it's under a blacklight. Which I could get behind.
I really like the design though. It puts me in mind of some mad mek creation that roams the battlefield, driving over scrap and then scooping it up in the mid section that used to be the assault ramp so the mek and his grots inside can scavenge the choicest gubbins.

Great conversion. I agree with everyone else, the addition of dirt, dust, and grime would really enhance the sense of it belonging to the orks. Its always a shame when we lose a beautiful warmachine of the imperium to those green-faced dirtbags!

Glow in the dark blue = awesome. A bit clean for my taste, but a very nice paint- and conversion job!

Hi all,
Thank you for the very nice compliments. Part of the "glow" tron-like effect is due to the flash on the camera. I wanted to try out doing a high contrast highlight, and I'm really pleased with the results. Having the model in front of me, it looks more like the "Bits" picture, so it's a bit more subdued. However, I can definately see a Tron effect.
I spent a lot of time debating with myself about weathering and dirtying up the model, but in the end, I really like how it looks when it's clean. I tried to push myself alot when doing this, and felt that dirtying up the bottom with mud and adding weathering would have detracted from the skill I demonstrated to myself.
