Greetings.

Quick question about Righteous Zeal and the interpretation of the rule:

The rule states: "In the shooting phase, any infantry unit that is not Pinned or Falling Back must take a Morale Check if it suffers any casualties from enemy shooting...."

So here's my question. Enemy shoots my transport, transport blows up, wounds a model inside, and the model fails his armor save.

Since the enemy's shooting caused the death rather indirectly (shooting the vehicle to blow it up) does this trigger Righteous Zeal or not?

Thanks in advance.

Generally I've seen people play this as yes, you do zeal.

This also applies to "Enemy shoots vehicle, vehicle explodes, explosion kills neophyte standing around next to it"

Dunno if this is exactly RAW, but I don't think it gives the BT an exceptional advantage if you play that they get their zeal move.

Why wouldn't you use zeal in this case?

Son can you play me a memory? I'm not really sure how it goes...

Because the Templar was not killed by shooting, he was killed by an exploding vehicle (which was killed by shooting)

Exactly.

In the same way that a model killed by Sweeping Advance has not been killed by the unit that caused the SA (e.g. so it doesnt count for the Saga SW can take) your sqquad took a casualty from the Explodes! rule, and NOT from enemy shooting.

No Zeal move
