If any of you don't know I collect and play Elysians Drop Troops which are amazing figures but I've always wondered who else collects them besides myself.

I am the only player at my club with them and a few other clubs don't have anyone who collects them though not suprised really with the price they are.

I started collecting Elysians because of the fluff and the dotorine they have. I also favour them over the normal IG minitures because of how unique they are.

So who Here on dakka dakka has Elysians? And why do you collect them?

Elysian Drop Troops 1500pts

Renegades & Heretics 2056pts

They are very nice but I'm a cheap guy so I have none of their models. (also no astropath sucks for them in their IA rules)

Ah the fallacies of GW, they will never make any new plastic regiments

There's a guy in the club I play with that runs them, I'm pretty sure all of his models are FW recasts tho. I don't think he's on Dakka otherwise I'd give you his screen name.

They can be a very difficult army to play against, but make for some rather fun games as your tactics are always forced to change.

For those of us without the FW books, can you give a brief overview of how their rules differ from standard IG?

In a nut-shell they'll probably be deep-striking all over the shop and looking cool whilst doing it...

"It is the great irony of the Legiones Astartes: engineered to kill to achieve a victory of peace that they can then be no part of."

"As I recall, your face was tortured. Imagine that - the Master of the Wolves, his ferocity twisted into grief. And yet you still carried out your duty. You always did what was asked of you. So loyal. So tenacious. Truly you were the attack dog of the Emperor. You took no pleasure in what you did. I knew that then, and I know it now. But all things change, my brother. I'm not the same as I was, and you're... well, let us not mention where you are now."

Yup. All of the infantry Deep Strike. The tactic is to drop in, deliver the payload (which is usually meltaguns, plasma guns and of course a demo charge) and hope it's effective because if not, come the following turn they will die a Guardsman's death.
