OK, so this is my little Eldar tribe. I am taking it out for a test spin tomorrow against Orks. I planned and purchased this warband before I really understood 5th edition, so it should be interesting
HQ
Autarch with Reaper Launcher
TROOPS
3x 7 Dire Avengers including Exarch with dual Shuriken Catapults
FAST ATTACK
7 Warp Spiders including Exarch with dual Deathspinners and Withdraw
6 Swooping Hawks including Exarch with Sunrifle and Skyleap
747 points
Now, my opponent runs a Boyz Mob to run forward and a Lootas Mob to hang back and bubble wrap his Shokk Attack Gun. He also has a Deff Dredd that is easily avoided. i plan to use the Hawks to Skyleap and bomb the Lootas with support from the Spiders, while th Avengers dance aeound the Boyz. If he brings the Battlewagon instead of the Dredd, my Hawks will become a very expensive sacrificial assault unit to disable it with Haywire grenades...
My other two regular opponents play Grey Knights and Chaos Marines, respectively. I was expecting Tyranids from the Chaos player lol! It should be interesting.

I've been playing Warhammer 40,000 since 1988, and am just coming back from a bit of a 10-year hiatus. And please excuse any wild accusations, hallucinations, or outright factual errors, as I am recovering from a serious head injury. And Warhammer 40,000 is part of my therapy. OH YEAH! |

Well it’s anything but the common way to play eldar but it might work against orks just keep your jump infantry moving and shooting
Your HQ is the worrying part I tend to find autarch to be good if I equip them like a warp spider and run them in that group but 9 times out of 10 a farseer will suit you better
You are also missing the gem of the eldar codex, a Wave serpent those DAs on foot are begging for one but if its an issue of not having the model, both Guardian Defenders with a warlock or Rangers will suit you better on foot
You’re a VERY elite heavy army and that can make or break you but I can see it gunning down a lot of orks if played with finesse and a big helping of luck
P.S. you mention the "Avengers dance around the Boyz" this will not happen they are just as fast as you, with a well timed Waaggg you will be in huge trouble and left with no scoring units

Thank you. I appreciate the insight. I won't have the chance to switch anything before tomorrow's game, but I have 10 Rangers waiting to be finished, and a Farseer sorely in need of paint. But I wanted the Autarch for the Reserve Roll bonus, since I plan to yoyo my Hawks. The Ork player has stated that he expects to table me by turn four based on our last game, but that was with a whole different Eldar army, so we will see...

I dont really like Hawks. could use their points to get a serpent or buff all the avengers and get bladestorm. I agree, a farseer can really aid this army. dooming with a bladestorm avenger squad speaks death to pretty much anything that isnt too big

And I had a spectacular Turn 3 victory! More about it later, in a separate post, but the army performed exactly as I expected it to, except that the Swooping Hawks never returned from their Skyleap lol!

Well done.
I find that spiders work pretty well against orks. I would have said drop the swooping hawks for either a WS or two, or some striking scorpions but i guess you won, so....
