With the Island of Blood out on Saturday, I was wondering whether I should field tonnes of Lothern Sea Guard and Introduce a few mages into my army. I was thinking Lore of life for one (simply because of the flesh to stone) and high magic for the other (because re-rolls to hit on shooting attacks with an army full of sea guard sounds pretty cool).

Possibly. 2-3 units of sea guard and a boatload of magic could work. but be sure to still have heavy hitters in the army like white lions

yeah I was actually thinking Pheonix Guard in case they get too close then I could scare them off.

I don't believe Fear-causing units will force your enemy to retreat - I think it just makes it harder for them to hit in combat.

Since you're getting 10 Sword Masters in the box, I'd use them instead of Phoenix Guard. They hit harder too.

Well, that's true, but 15 Strenght 5 attacks kind of makes up for that. Besides, he was intending to use Flesh to Stone, giving them T 5.

Then you cast Shield of Saphery, just in case.

Voila! Uberunit.
