It's s while since i read them but I've read them twice and loved them both times. Great books, definitely worth getting. Good stories, characters and atmosphere. Nice to see 40k from a much ignored perspective as well.

Has anyone menaged to finish The Eye of Medusa? I could not get past first 70 pages. Author's books in the Beast series were one of the worst but at least readable. With that one I simply cannot force myself to read farther.

Why am I only finding out about this on Bugmen's brewery?
Granted I haven't been at the tga forum recently but dang.
From the author;
The shadow component does refer to Ulgu, but that's as far as it goes, I'm afraid. The book takes place in Ghur, mostly, though there are scenes in Shyish and Aqshy. The Eight Lamentations - of which the spear is one - are mystic weapons forged by the eight weaponsmiths of Khorne. One weapon for each realm. A spear for Ulgu, a sword for Aqshy, a mace for Chamon, etc. Each of the weapons possesses some of the characteristics of the realm whose substance it was wrought from, and, in the right hands, is capable of turning the tide of battle or possibly wounding a god.
The series itself is about the hunt for these mystic weapons, which have begun to reappear in the realms after going missing for several centuries. The weapons are scattered across the realms, either hidden or lost, and the various factions are in a race to claim them, hoping to use them to swing the war to one side or the other. The factions in the first book include the eight weaponsmiths of Khorne, who are in competition with each other, via their chosen champions, as well as everyone else; Grungni and his agents - a Gunmaster of Azyr, a Fyreslayer Doomseeker, a mercenary from Chamon, a warrior-priest from Ghur and a demigryph knight from Ghyran - who are the protagonists of the book; Neferata and her agent, Adhema; a Tzeentchian servant of Archaon; the Spider-God; and, last but not least, the skaven. The book also features numerous cameos and references to most every other AOS book I've written, and a street-level look at Excelsis.
Sounds awesome!

Not a fan of that cover but the book should be good. I wonder if they are going to recon who is on Terra for the big battle?
Anybody else get their order for Dark Imperium fethed up by Black Library over the weekend? Mine turned into a copy of Jain Zar: The Storm of Silence according to the dispatch notice this morning. Black Library told me I wasn't the only one, so looks like I will have a free book

Blurb of the incoming eight lamentations:
In the beginning, there was fire. And from that fire came eight weapons of terrible power, honed to a killing edge by the chosen weaponsmiths of Khorne. Now, as the Mortal Realms echo with the thunder of war, the great powers seek to acquire the eight wherever they might be found, no matter the cost. In a city of prophecy and secrets, Grungni, smith-god of the duardin, gathers together a group of mortal warriors from across the realms in order to locate the first of the eight weapons. But they are not alone in their quest; agents of the Ruinous Powers search for the weapon for themselves. Now the race is on, as man, duardin and daemon alike seek to claim the Spear of Shadows...

Fairly sure it's a reprint of the Time of Legends Sigmar anthology under a new imprint.
I suppose it's too much to hope for that we might see some new original fiction for WHF as-was under this new Chronicles branding, but honestly I'd be satisfied if they just put the old books back into bloody print.

I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.
"Your society's broken, so who should we blame? Should we blame the rich, powerful people who caused it? No, lets blame the people with no power and no money and those immigrants who don't even have the vote. Yea, it must be their fething fault." - Iain M Banks

"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal |

Finished Dark Imperium. Mixed feelings for it. I liked parts of it that introduced new lore (mainly ones with Primarchs) but other parts felt as little more than a product placement for DI box (mainly ones with Primaris).
Side note: I think that author hates Custodes. In Beast series he makes them loose to Harlies and here the only one who speaks is an idiot.

That my man is a jewel of a trilogy particularly the last book. It won a Gemmel award some time ago. Yes it's a reprint but well worth a few reads if you like old style Robert E Howard fantasy, or as I like to call it proper fantasy! It's early McNeil so maybe not his best but great all the same.
Just dont read an age of sigmar after it or you will get depressed.
On a different note the Ruinstorm cover is awful, both the lion and the angel look like complete nobs. Why oh why would you keep putting that hair on the angel, surely at some point you would pretend he got a haircut. The lion looks like an angry bilked out Eminem

In a recent interview with WargamerOnline which many may have missed, Gav Thorpe name-dropped an upcoming Aeldari novel being released later this year: Ghost Warrior, focused on the Ynnari and specifically Iyanna Arienal. It's going to be part of a series, and he hinted that Wild Rider, the book he's previously said he wants to write about Nuadhu Fireheart, may be a part of this series as well.
