I've thought of posting something like this for a while, and considered making it a poll.
I didn't.
Anyway, I was just wondering what kind of geeky things everyone here is involved with?
(define "geeky"/"nerdy" yourself!)

As for me, I'm in love with the fluff of 40k, as well as modeling in the future. Not sure about playing yet...
I also read constantly, love comic books (the Punisher is amazing), play video games enough to make my eyes bleed, and play Amtgard (LARPing) fairly often. I'll be a level 2 Scout tomorrow! Woo!
Oh, and more on Amtgard: I play at Madoc's Keep in the Rising Winds Kingdom!
And more for video games: My LIVE gamertag happens to be shadowwolf9927, when I actually decide to pay the bill and be online.
I'm also pretty sure I'm actually forgetting geeky things that I do.
Woo again!

Also I have milk chocolate-flavored ice cream, and it is delicious.

Being a nerd is quite funny if you really consider it, we all have our own 'nerdy' pastimes so it's obvious that the general population considers them as such, and we only consider ourselves a 'nerd' because we compare the accepted nerd activities to things we enjoy doing!

Myself I am an avid reader of fiction, mostly things like Raymond E Fiest and his riftwar saga, I also enjoy reading comics I have just re finished the DV8 collection and the punisher collection by max comics (the explicit content ones) and the giant punisher collection in one huge tome! $200 bucks worth of vigilante violence!
my other interests are playing ols school computer games (i'm crap at anything new) bring on mario and perfect dark for me!
Oh and toys, I just love collecting all the cool stuff I wish I had when I was a kid along with all the cool stuff I used to have as a kid!
and i'm a mad Transformers fan, books, comics, toys, costumes, all the cartoons, movies...:-)

Breif sidebar about "Geek" and "Nerd"

An individual can be the coolest person in the room and still geek out about their favorite thing.

A nerd is more of a social pariah, an outcast.

A nerd can be a geek too but geeking out about something doesn't make you a nerd.

OK?

I consider my self a "cool geek." I like reading and computers as well. I feel that I'm pretty well rounded. I used to play RPGs a lot (DnD, L5R, 7th Sea) and MTG. But I'm mainly into board games and table top now.

I do nearly anything nerd-related save LARPing. It's no big shock to anyone by now but I'm a massive Lady Gaga fan and that leads to particularly geeky interaction with other "little monsters." It's so much fun to be walking in public and see someone with a Gaga shirt then raise a monster paw and "show your teeth" then have them return it Beyond that I'm extremely social and fairly balanced as an individual, though lately being a slut has apparently become a hobby of mine as well. I play music and do lots of karaoke but I'm not sure if that's geeky.

I read 2000AD, the best comic ever. I read a little Manga, though most of what I want to read is old and I don't like any new manga. (Akira and Lone Wolf & Cub were my faves) I also read occasional American comics, but generally only to see what my fave Brit writers have come up with.

I used to play on the biggest Neverwinter Nights Persistent World (www.avlis.org). My character was the first PC to be elected to government, had his own (small) political party, ran a cult dedicated to the god of fear, and was also the Chancellor of the city's university. I also ran a badass Lizardman, a Pirate and a human trader who established the Trade Federation and ran the first few Trade Fairs. I eventually got sick of the politics, but I had a lot of fun there and I would still highly recommend it. I am still the highest-ever-posting non-team member there.

I read a lot of Fantasy. Steven Erikson is my favourite. I read some Sci-Fi - I mostly prefer the old classics like Pohl, Haldemann, etc. I find new Sci-Fi is mostly quite derivative. I see Sci-Fi as an exploratory "what if" genre of writing, not just Westerns with Lasers or Pirates with Spaceships. Having said that, I do like some of the Horus Heresy books.

Not so much nerdy, but odd, I am a 32 year-old Brit, living in London, but I play American Football.

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

I liked to admit I'm a nerd, but I'm okay with it.
Computer games are one of my faves as well as mario games.
I'm a complete slave to the lord of the rings and can read the trilogy in a weekend, last time i did that i was 13 and devoutly watch the extended editions of the movies back to back on free weekends.
Homework is somewhat a favorite of mine, i wrote a 2000 word essay when everyone else in the class wrote 200.

Hmm..

Forums (Been a active poster on many forums, mainly only Dakka and Warp Watchers now mind. Have a account on Warseer, Heresy, Neoseeker, Druchii.net and a few others.)
Toys (I pick up toys related to stuff I like which would probably be seen as geeky.. figs from WoW, Halo etc. I also collect stuff like He Man figs from the 2004 remake - with my comic-con She-ra being a fave and so on.)
TV series (I like Sci-fi stuff alot, currently own the B5 universe boxed set, a compleate set of Farscape, and I am collecting the Doctor who Video mags, up to issue 44 now.)

Hmm...Yeah, wargaming is my most nerdy habit, but aside from that I've always been a sci fi nut...always wanted to be an astronaut and the like, although completely lacking in any of the skills to be one...except for in my head!

I used to roleplay all the time when I was younger though, D&D and Rifts...not that Rifts was ever really about anything other than massive guns and vampires!

Oh, and Videogames...I still love those!

That being said, despite an overall dislike of sport in all its forms (except for womens tennis and volleyball!) I am an avid Scuba Diver, so that takes away from the stigma just enough to keep me sane! Muuhey!

Even though I had to google that, I enjoyed it!
But since when is that geeky? xD

Hmm, I'm noticing a lot of very different people here. I love you all =D
(And if we're (do I use parenthesis too much?) listing non-"geeky" things then I'm i gigantic flirt/womanizer when not dating anyone, I love stuffed animals, I collect weaponry of all types, and I'll hug damn near anything if it's cute enough. Oh, I also love to make people feel uncomfortable (in perfectly safe ways)). Also I constantly eat and I'm skinny as all hell. Or, a very very small sliver of hell, I guess.

And another question, since we're somewhat on the subject- has anyone ever played Death Unto Darkness? I'm wondering if it's even remotely fun.

Not geeky, but definately a hobby.

I enjoy woodworking/carpentry, gardening (have a decent sized one on my back deck. The tomatoes just came in and taste great), collecting knives,
shooting, weight lifting and running, and performing stand up comedy or improv comedy.

For the geeky stuff: Reading H.P Lovecraft books, reading in general (books is fur nerds!), Magic The Gathering, anime, video games, and RPG's.

I read on a variety of topics, from military science and history (I've got a copy of Petraeus' COIN manual sitting on my desk, next to my copy of Clausewitz as I type this) to horror to science fiction (lately, Charles Stross, Jim Butcher, and Iain M Banks are topping the list). Political theory and philosophical works make their way into the pile as well.

I play WoW, SC2, and most anything else I can get my paws on.

I code websites.

I watch anime (just finished Requiem For A Phantom, Count of Monte Cristo, and Darker than Black, working on When They Cry right now).

I managed to kick my cardboard crack habit a while back, although I'll still play a game of Magic or WoW once in a while, for old times sake.

I'll buy the occasional comic, although it's mostly things I'm already interested in (Deadpool, Dresden Files) or classics (Sandman, Watchmen, etc).

Oh, and I write, on my own and cooperatively (read: online RPing), mostly original sci fi.
