I'm just starting my little project, I want to make pipes for gaskmask/weapons etc.... I know people use Guitar strings for such items. I have no idea about Guitars, so without buying loads of strings, what gauge string do people find best for modelling?

The 6th string i.e the thickest one.

If you want a really thick one though, ask for "a bass E string"

If they ask for a guage, say 0.42.

You can try to ask if they have any thrown away strings from their workshop, maybe you can have them for free, since you dont really need new strings.

What size are you looking for in terms of piping etc? If you get a low E in 11s gauge (just ask for it like that) Its basically about as thick as the pole bit on a AoBR nobs axe. If you want piping for vechiles etc ask for a low E in 13 gauge. Hope that helps you out

I would just buy a pack of all 6, then you get a bunch of different sizes Or you could just get a pack of bass strings if you just want the coiled cable looking stuff.
