So my FLGS is having a tournament on Sept. 18th and I want to go. Here is my 2500 list, 1st attempt:

I have 109 points left, I'm leaning towards adding more xbows, but i'm not sure if thats the best idea or not)

On my DE list, someone mentioned that Shades could be better than Riders. Dont know for sure but you could try that. Maybe swap one bolt thrower for an extra Hydra?

Needs moar Hydra.

Thats why I have both, if you just use one type of war machine hunter they it won't work, the more the better.

The problem is that I only own 1 hydra, and I cant stand putting that chunk of metal together. Plus I don't have another $70 bucks to spend on one.

Right good point, i suggest dropping the squishy bolt throwers, and just beefing up the rest of your army then, magic would be a better monster hunter for DE than those things. Its sad how bolt throwers got nerfed with the new crew is wounds rule :(

Just played a 2k tourney and ran to Bolt Throwers, I found myself using the 6 shot method way more than the single (though in my last game they did take out 2/3 of a bloodcrusher unit at point blank). For the same points though I could have taken a third unit of 20 RXBs so I support the idea of dropping them for beefing up other units.

I think this overall is a better list, I now have 3 units with banners and a BSB.

Things I'm considering:

Lvl 4 - is the pendent the best ward I can get, or would a 4+ all the time be better.
lvl 2 - is metal the best choice (or should i go death?), also should i get her a ward save instead of the Dispell Scroll?
Dreadlord - same thing, needs a ward save, i think
BSB - is the Banner of Nargalyte worth the cost, If i'm looking at cutting points to ward saves, are the points better spend on making him survive (magical armor over banner?)

Any input is appreciated. I should be getting in a few test games tomorrow and over the weekend.

PoK not only protects the sorceress against high-S shooting (and even S3 shooting gives her a 50/50 shot at avoiding a wound), it also gives her a darn good chance of tanking a miscast... or even more than one.

Pretty squishy list - shooty, but squishy. The hydra is decent for getting into combat and attacking, breathing and then thunderstomping, but you only have the one block of warriors.

Here's a combo I've seen one of my buddies run which is sick - Master on Dark Steed, Heavy Armor, Shield, Sea Dragon Cloak, BSB, Sword of Might, Pendant of Khaeleth. Works out to a 2+ AS, almost anything but a 6 ward save, Str 5 with Hatred attacks. Mvt 8 or 9 I believe - fast as anything. Really designed for war machine hunting, I've seen it run into a full unit of minotaurs, break them and run them down. +1 for charging, +1 for BSB and usually puts 2 wounds or so on the unit it's attacking, and just about unkillable.

Just hope you don't play a Skaven list with Stormbanner or armies with items that modify shooting abilities.

Its going to be squishy - its an elf list. From the armies I remember seeing at hard boyz there was - skaven (store winner), all three elves, 2 empire semi-gunlines, dwarf semi gunline, brettonia, 3 slann led lizardmen, 1 daemons, WoC and 1 VC with skeleton.

I'm going to my first tournament (im fairly certain im the only regular without tournament experience) with what I own (most of which is painted currently), and well as long as I don't finish dead last at the end of the day I'll be happy.

2 more questions:

Dreadlord - Armor of Darkness or should I go with mundane armor and try to get a ward save.

Sorceress - where to put her? Without a ward save i'm wary of leavinig her by herself but I don't want to blow up a unit by chance either.

I should be able to get in a few games tomorrow so I'll see how it goes.
