Ok something came up in my game today that made me think:
Nobz v Assault Termies
Lightning claws strike and kill a single nob
Nobs strike back (here is where my question come up)
Big Choppas hit and score 12 hits
Klaws and TH go simul
TH whiff Klaws score 9 more hits...
Combat ends w 7 nobs standing and 1 termie left
My question is this:
Does he attempt to save the wounds from the Big Choppas before we move onto powerklaws and TH? Or do we resolve all saves at the same time ie when combat ends? I ask because this could affect how wounds are allocated to A. my nobz and B. his termies
Im thinking he would save his BC wounds first because they fall before the klaws do. Also if I am fighting an army where all my opponents guys strike first, does he have to attempt to save the BCs before the klaws and essentially deal w 2 different rounds of wounds?
Sorry if this sounds conveluted...if anyone requires further clarification Ill try to clarify...but this is the best my addled brain can make out at 1AM!
Thanks!

You go in each step. I4 models resolve first, then your I3 models, then all the I1 models. He'd have to roll the BC saves before you ever get to the I1 stage.

And when those Nobs charge they would also be I4 so they would hit at the same time as the LC termies so you would allocate the wounds to the BC Nobs and not have any of your PK's die.

I thought I had to allocate wounds to unwounded models first? Or am I incorrect there too?

You allocate wounding hits equally to all models.
You then group ALL models into groups of identical models - being wounded or not doesnt come into play here, its based on equipment, stats etc.
At this point after making any saves you must remove wounds from wounded models first - but ONLY within the group the wounds are assigned to.
If you are running fully diversified nobs then you have each nob being a unique group, meaning you can assign LC wounds even to wounded models.

In addition, just as a side note, if he inflicts instant death upon a nob (Thunderhammer) then you must allocate it upon an unwounded model as well.

Wrong. You must remove a whole model in whatever wound group it is assigned to.
You can assign it to an unwounded nob is there is only that nob in a wound group.

Not entirely accurate.
If you have a Wound group of like Nobs(same equipment, same statline, same in-game name); that is to say 3 Nobz with BC, and 2 of those nobz already have wounds on them, and you assign the Thunder hammer hit to that wound group: then you must take the unwounded Nob out as a casualty from the Thunderhammer.
But
If you have 10 fully diversified Nobz and 3 of them have 1 wound left, and you take a single hit from a thunderhammer; that hit can be assigned to any of the 10 wound-groups including one of the previously wounded nobz.
As nos said you assign all wounds from each initiative step to whatever models you want, then make saves in batches for models in different wound groups, then remove casualties from each individual wound group according to the "units of multiple wound models" rules.
In each wound group non-instant Death Wounds get applied to wounded models first(there can never be more than one of those per wound group unless they have "Gets Hot" weapons, or are all psykers), and Instant Death Wounds get applied to unwounded models first

This is what I thought...I play fully diversified nobs so this makes em even better!
So if Im reading this all correctly regarding my BCs he saves for the BCs and regular hits before I even roll my Klaws correct...sorry if it seems like Im beating a dead horse here I just want to make sure Im handling this properly as it will change the way me and my group plays quite a bit!
Thanks again for the responses...I knew I could count on you guys!

Where is this laid out? I don't think I've ever heard this.
Edit: Nvm, found it. Page 26. Not sure my opponents have been doing this. Hmm. . .
