Could someone be so kind as to give me the dimensions (Major Axis, Minor Axis etc) of the Oval base for the Valkyrie, or is it the same as a trygon base?

i guess you could house rule that it can be mounted to a ceiling gantry or possibly outfit the the gaming table with a powerful electromagnet and then place another magnet with the same pole facing the table in the transport area to facilitate "leviation" at the same height as basing it... but mounting it on a base just seems easier. 
to save gwar the trouble, the rules say you have to use the base supplied. most reasonable people will not mind if you convert another as long as it maintains roughly the same dimensions.

For game purposes the base is in my experience more important than the actual model.
It determines where other models are allowed to stand near it and where troops may stand.
The only thing you need the model for is line of sight, when firing.
