So, stupid idea - any tips to make it viable?? (hint - We MUST have as many ogryns as possible. Extra points for fitting Nork in there somewhere)

* CCS [Officer with Meltabombs, 3 Meltaguns] in a Chimera [160]

* 10 Ogryns [410]

You need more meltas/las. switch those penals for vets with 2 meltas each. or maybe a lascannon. or bare and swap the banewolves for vendettas. I would also think that lowering the ogryns to 6 each and giving them a transport isnt a bad idea. you can drive and gun and then dismount once close enough

well the ogryns really need chimeras so you can shoot there awesome ripper guns instaed of running every where . it also helps you chose your fights.

commissar yarrick i feel would do well in an ogryn squad

but at the end of the day to make them viable you need plenty of cheap troops to help hold the objectives after the ogryns have pushed them of so maybe something like

[090] ccs - 4mleta guns
[055] chimera
[090] ccs - 4 melta guns
[055] chimera

[210] 5 ogryns
[055] chimera
[210] 5 ogryns

[050] pcs - 4flamers
[055] chimera
[055] infantry squad - grenade launcher

total 1840 pts not as many ogryns but it does make them much more playable and also forces your opponent to target your ccs early on and your infantry later on so leaves your ogryns free to do as they wish . it also nullifies all lance weapons which is nice

also the ccs can order them selves to bring it down so should be able to deal with most armour while your sheer fire power should deal with transports(well hopefully )

i really like your list, maybe use platoon squads, with HWS and SWS being ogryns since each team has two wounds so its kinda like an ogryn.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
i meant i like your idea not your list, you dont have enough anti-tank which the other people have pointed out. i think if you use platoons you can still have your feel and a good list

Problem with this list is only 2 units can take out +13 AV. if there are land raiders/monoliths/etc, they can stop you in your tracks fast

true but with 4 twin linked melta guns in each they should deal with the problem

could always give one of the squads a lascannon but i see no use for it

you are always going to sturggle building a list around ogryns due to what they give you for their cost - most units at their price could easily deal with av 14 . but allas

could always drop of one infantry squad and get a vendetta would add some nice movement but would still suck against av 14

except a monolith

then again, those stupid things are always crazy and you'll just need to bash in the heads of the warriors with your ogryns!

i'll be honest with you since my firts game against necrons i have never again fired at a monolith

instead i just use my antitank on the destroyers and then only fire on the monolith if i have absolutely nothing else to shoot at

What it needs, more than anything else, is a way to crack open some Transports so the Ogryns can get at the squishy stuff inside.

eg. Hydras.
