Hey everyone,

I've been working on a terrain generator for Warmachine. After many nights getting furious at the terrain layout for being unfair and basically a ploy by my opponent to leverage his faction's strengths I decided to generate a generator:

If you want anything added or changed please let me know!!

I can definitely throw in a print function, it also shouldn't be *too* hard to add a button that would save the map as an image.

Hmmmm, well now I know what I'll be fixated on this morning...

That is a fantastic idea...there are two mirror possibilities I guess. One where we mirror from left to right and one where we flip one side horizontally and vertically. I've added it to my features list for the next version.

Thank you!

Have you thought of expanding it to other games with a variable board size option?

Maybe make an app version for iphone/pad and charge a reasonable fee.

I'm working on the next version in PHP and then I'll work on porting it to Android and iPhone. I've had many requests for a mobile map generator and it definitely makes a lot of sense.

CT GAMER wrote:My main gripe: Nothing requires me as a player to pick from only two sides that have seemingly been arbitrarily chosen as potential deployment zones.

As a player I can actually choose any of the four sides as my edge/deployment zones.

Your program seems to want to restrict a player to only two sides and then distributes terrain in accordance with this limitation.

This is a turnoff for me personally as far as using your generator, and I wish it had an option to have no zones designated so that i could simply have it randomly populate a whole table with terrain.

When i set up terrain normally I do so without any assumption of which of the edges will be used for deployment. I find this makes for less contrived terrain setups with more play variety and provides far less chance for a shifty player to as easily set up terrain to his advantage.

We simply pick any of the four sides and then rotate the table or sit/stand on the chosen sides as needed.

I'd like to see this feature in your generator.

I'd also like to see mode that allows the generator to randomly determine battlefield type (forest, desert, etc.) unless I missed it.

Hey there,

If you select the, "Yes" in the "Terrain in Deployment" menu you will see that the entire map is populated and you can then choose whichever side you want without being forced.

In the Terrain Template section I have a few templates that will force a certain amount of forest, elevation, etc...

I totally agree with you on the deployment zone thing, I prefer to generate the full map but I had a ton of people say they prefer nothing in the DZ.

Let me know how that works when you get a chance!

eeeeexcellent idea
