So I played elves in 6th and here were are in 8th. Still torn on red or blue as the secondary color. Blue is fairly common but easier to paint. Red stands out more but requires more time per model.

The swordmaster is by no means finished, just screwing around with a model I had laying around for years. The spearman base is my own sculpt. I have a few that I cast in resin and the entire army will be done with them.
The sandstone recipe is insanely simple:
prime black
dehneb stone base coat
devlan mud wash
dehneb stone edging
graveyard earth border

The spear shaft is Kommando Khaki as bone is just too common and also a pain in the ass to work with.
Armor on the spearman is chainmail with a soft body black wash with accents highlighted with mithril(helmet and spear tip)
White cloth is astronomicon gray, soft body black wash, skull white(about 4 layers, although I kinda rushed thru it)

Gold accent on the spear is Reaper Pro series Dragon Gold, the same used on the swordmaster.
(i just realized these pics cut off the top of the spear! doh!)

HOLY CRAP LOOK AT THAT MOLD LINE!!! thank God this is just a screw around model!

And here is my wee collection of brushes. All in all I use about 4 of these on a daily basis, the rest are all specialized for specific tasks such as eyes or weathering pigments. The big one is only used to dust models lol.

Really like the blue more then the red but both look great. I was killing some time last night in my local GW store and they had started painting up the high elves from the island of blood with a green theme which looked awesome, might be worth considering.

The pic is lost on me. I don't tend to keep up on pop culture.
