So, I have lately really gotten into the Tier Lists for my factions of PoM and Skorne, and I love the themes offered. I also like the fact that it makes collecting easier, as you have a more limited selection to choose from.
However, I haven't played a Tourney yet with any of the Tier Lists, and I wanted to put it to the forum- are the tiers competitive? I know that most of winning and losing depends on the player, and that the game is pretty balanced between factions, but how do you all feel the tier lists stack up?

Depends on the list, to be honest. I've played a couple theme lists in tournaments, and eButcher and pSorscha both perform quite well. Likewise, both Vlad lists look to have a lot of promise, and Karchev would be quite fun if I owned more MoW. With my Skorne, pMorghoul and Xerxis have had some success.

On the Cryx side, I've had my ass kicked by Mortenebra's list often enough to know that it's nasty, and at the very least eGoreshade and pDenny (aka, OHSHITTHRALLS) are rather effective.

The Tier lists are not balanced as a whole (and i don't think they intended them to be).

Some are obviously more powerful than others ad more intuitive, and some leave you scratching your head...

A note on the Vlad Lists... I had the great misfortune to face pVlad in a friendly little 20pt MM. Well...friendly until he whipped out 5 damn Berzerkers! Now, I don't really see an individual Berzerker as that much of a threat, but when you have 155 damn hit points to plow through at 20 points... Not pleasant.

I have been tooling up for a 35pt Steamroller coming soon to my LGS, and I am pretty happy with my pKreoss Tier 2 list. My second list is a toss-up between eFeora and Reznik. Feora is at T3, and the Hedznik is T1 b/c I dont have enough cleansers.

The competitiveness of tier lists is also tied to the point value or size of game. Some of the tiers have so costly requirements that they are not playable under 50 points.

True. Between my 2 factions, PoM and Skorne, I have 10 Warlocks/'casters. Only 2 of them can T4 at 35 points without completely NRFing the list.

eSKarre's 'No Diyx Cryx' is pretty scary.
The only thing it doesn't do very well against is auto-hitting stuff that covers a large area but isn't blast damage.

2 Squads of Satyxis Raiders and UA...oh man...I'm so tempted.

Resnik's list is ok, IMO. The Harby's tier list can be absolutely abusive.

It's my intention/goal to build the theme lists for my Cryx casters, except eGaspy because I hate the Drudge figs. Working on getting the Trolls for Venewthrax's list right now, probably get more Banes and Stalkers for The Bastard's list next.

He did, and I did. Well, one blew up. Still left fething 4 of them.

Go heavy jack and Bastions on him then. The zerker P&S 16 doesn't like heavy jacks and Bastions. That forces him to spend focus, sacrifice zerkers to pin down, or commit Vlad. Vlad can wreck but if he goes for S&P over BoK, you've got him. Or knock him down with something.

Yeah. Well, this was a MM game. (Don't remember if I mentioned that.) If it hadn't been, I would have had a much easier time..

I've seen sexy eKreoss tier lists, but that was at 50 points. Seems like a great list either way.

I personally dig the pMagnus tiers, but that's because I love trenchers, but the tier 3 advantage is pretty stupid.

Other than that, I've had few experiences with 'em.

Have you checked out PCaine's tiers? reduce arcane tempest costs by 1 and gives a free UA to them. PLUS, it is easily doable in armies as low as 15 pts.
