that is the question. Last edition the only reason not to was if you needed the points.

So what are your thoughts on BSB's and fighter characters? What of mages and wizards?

I'm interested in seeing thoughts of others... imho he just needs to match his unit so he can get a LOS (Look out, sir)! Makes things like juggernauts and the like less likely to be used as mounts, I think... or in my case, great stag and unicorn :-/

I have two awesome models for the, but without a LOS, it really deters me from taking them!

My thoughts exactly. I'd like the extra save on my BSB but at the loss of LOS I'm not sure it's worth it.

I think it greatly depends on the army. Beastmen all they can take is chariots. I'm not a fan of characters on chariots but some are for the extra mobility and punch in close combat and lack of s7 autokill this edition. Prefer my foot horde with a few normal chariots personally.

Its army dependent, for example, I have to mount all of my combat characters anyway, unless I take the virtue of Empathy (which isn't a bad idea for a BSB though)

A lore of beasts or life wizard in an inf block can be a game changer

clearly Brets are exempt from this topic as like you said they have no option except to damsels.

And virtue of empathy, but yes for a combat lord you'd be daft to give him the virtue of empathy (especially when I can have Heroic killing blow)

Foot damsels in M@A units with beasts/life are good though

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

it depends on the mount.

Monsters aren't as good now that they can't hide as well.

Horses(or equivilant) are good only if he has a unit to hide in

the biggest thing i would consider is a Chaos Lord on a Juggernaut simply because it gives +2 to your Armor and is Monsterous cavelry.

unless it gives significant protection OR he can hide in a unit i wouldn't mount up.

I just mean horses or your armies equivalent.
