So tell me how dumb this is:

The Sanguinor

5 Sanguinary Guard - PF, Chapter Banner
2 Sanguinary Priests - Jump Packs

10 Assault Marines - PF, 2x Meltaguns
10 Assault Marines - PF, 2x Meltaguns
10 Assault Marines - PF, 2x Meltaguns
10 Assault Marines - PF, 2x Flamers

5 Devastators - 4x MLs
5 Devastators - 4x MLs

It's five points over, but meh. Obviously, I'm not a big fan of armor, and a big fan of jump packs. The Sanguinary Guard are expensive, but when they hit something with The Sanguinor, with the Chapter Banner, his special rules, and within the bubble of a Sanguinary Priest, it should vaporize. Hopefully have enough bodies to get enough across the board to get into assault. Devs just deploy in cover and lob missiles all day.

The other list I came up with that I actually really liked was basically the same, just swapped out the Devs in favor for Baals, and dropped an Assault Squad down to 5 to get another. So 35 Assault Marines, and 3 Baals.

C&C more than welcome.

Once again I dont like devs but since this is on foot I dont mind too much. I would however suggest attempting to split them up into 3 groups of 3 or 2 launchers each to increase targets attacked a turn.

I don't have the points for it, unfortunately.

Though I agree it would help. There's not a lot of shooting in this army, and if it's not going to DS the assault element often, it's going to be pretty predictable.

Personally, wouldn't have Four Assault Squads.

Id probably have 2, a Death company Squad and Squeeze some Assault Terminators in.

Get rid at least one devastator squad to accommodate the slightly more expensive units.

Not sure on exact points, but you can split the assault squads to hold objectives, Death Company always draw attention even though they aren't as powerful as they were, and deep strike the termies in the tie a squad to stop them shooting the assault marines down before they do anything.

I'm going back and forth on the Sanguinary Guard. On the one hand, if they can get to where they need to be intact, in a SP bubble, with the Sanguinor along for the ride, they're going to dish out an insane amount of power weapon attacks. On the other hand, they're fragile and expensive.

Why's Sanguinor dumb, though? Yes, he's ungodly expensive, but you get a lot for the points.

Sanguinor is a good choice, but not sanguinary guard.

Run the priests with the assault squads, the feel no pain with stop them being quite as mushy, and furious charge mean they can hold their own against most of the big CC stuff going around.

Id personally take terminators instead of san guard, they are mor resistant, and though not a quick, if you deep strike them in, it doesn't matter.

I'd drop the Dev's for more jump packers, say a Honor Guard with 4 meltas. Ouch.

Fragile and expensive is right on. Blast them with AP2 fire to beat that 2+ armour and FnP won't help either.

He's expensive and you only buff a SGT and I think reduce a HQ profile; that's it. Not exactly army changing ground breaking.

He also provides a six-inch +1A bubble.

But, as much as I hate to admit it, I only just now realized he's not an IC and thus can't join a squad. That changes things considerably, as I'd planned on attaching him to the Sanguinary Guard.

I don't know, though. With four assault squads on the table he should have plenty of cover and be able to make it across and kill things. There really aren't any other killy JP HQ options - other than Meph, who suffers from the same unattachability.

I've got a bit of a Herohammer addiction, unfortunately, and even though I'm aware it's the army that wins, not one HQ unit, I'm still just more comfortable with a list that includes a CC monster HQ unit. Really considering going back to SW, as sad as it is.

Meh. Only two wounds, only T4, no Eternal Warrior. I seriously got spoiled by Wolf Lords.

I guess this is sort of turning into a "How would you run The Sanguinor if you had to?" sort of question.

I would drop the Sanguinor he is sort of a meh choice. I like the rest of the list maybe take a Reclusiarch and another Dev squad instead of Sanguinor? 12 ML shots a turn is nothing to sneeze at, ask any SW player(except they can get 15...).

If I HAD to run the Sanguinor I would run a list similar to this with everything dropping in but instead of devs maybe dreads in pods.
