I have most of 3 armies down pat with assembling and list making and I now want to focus on my Tau army and see if it is worth giving a shot.
I've been looking at the Heavy Slots for what I would want to do and would like some input to what others have run.
I've been thinking of running at the 1850 point level 3 Broadsides and 2 Hammerheads with Rail Guns, giving me some versatility when it comes to shooting down hordes or shooting down tanks.
What do you guys run in the Tau Heavy Options?

That's what I run as well. And it seems pretty effective at 1500 vs CSM and SM, letting my Hammer heads use the pie plate and the Broadsides kill any armor that my missile pods can't crack. I also like broadsides vs bike squads and I find that the PR on them help out a lot if you're fighting a lot of TEQs

Disclaimer: I don't play Tau, but these are my observations from the other side of the table.
From my experience playing against Tau, Hammerhead Railguns are crap when fired AP1. The blast is nasty, but the single shot always seems to miss when it's important for my opponents. And missing those transports the first couple turns can be bad news bears.
For the same money, you could take two Broadsides, which are almost definitely harder to kill (2 wounds, 2+ armor, deploy in cover), and get two twin-linked shots with the rail guns, plus other weapons for shooting at infantry if needs be.
As a mech player, I'd rather see two hammerheads than two groups of two broadsides on the other side of the table.

Look at your comment. Back to mine. Back to yours NOW BACK TO MINE. Sadly, it isn't mine. But if you stopped trolling and started posting legitimate crap it could LOOK like mine. Look down, back up, where are you? You're scrolling through comments, finding the ones that your comment could look like. Back at mine, what is it? It's a highly effective counter-troll. Look again, MY COMMENT IS NOW DIAMONDS.
Anything is possible when you think before you comment or post.

I´m with ElCheezus, I prefer havig broadsides to deal with vehicles, and the Hammerheads to deal with infantry with 4+ or less save.
However, I don´t usually go with more than 3 Broadsides and 1 Hammerhead, because of the point cost. I think that´s enough HS to deal with almost any enemy at 1500 points.
My option for light vehicles and transports are the Crisis Battlesuits with twin-linked missile pods.

Tau Heavies?.. If it doesn't have a Rail Gun you shouldn't take it.
Hammer head is great for those time you face hordes (nids orks and IG) Broad sides are great VS vehicels (mass TL str10 AP1 for the win)

I use one hammerhead w/ railgun and one team of Broadsides at 1500. I found that the broadsides were more effective against vehicles but that the gunship was more versatile. Not sure with 1850; probably depends on taste and the rest of the army as to whether you field hammerhead, broadsides, or something else entirely with the points (just don't use skyrays. I've found them to be virtually worthless compared to the hammerhead.)

3 BS and 2 Railheads are always a pretty safe bet. I've also been fond of 3 BS, 1 Rail, 1 Ion on occasion.
4-6 BS eat face too.
Pretty much anything along these lines work very well, and is just dependent on your playstyle and metagame on what will work best.
