I've finally started basing some of my models, but have run into a problem, it falls off. I've been using the slate that comes in the 40K basing kit. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to stop this decay? Would putting a layer of glue on top of the basing help it stay in place? What about purity seal?

i normally leave a space about the size of the slate you want to use then super glue it on (before or after basing) its worth a try dude

Are you washing any dust off the slate first?
Or alternatively don't use slate. It looks comically naff with everyone standing on a rock tbh anyway. Scaled shards look ok, and the odd dude on larger one is fine too. But no army of rock-perchers ever looked good imo...

depends on how you do it, if you stick the guy on to a hugh lump the it can look naff but if you use a small "sliver" and put it in place on the base it can look like its a bit of the ground and give a base more depth imo, but everyone to there own really, my nids are getting ice/snow base and the guys i play with say they think snow looks naff and like dirt

If it is the fine slate you are using paint the base with PVA glue then sprinkle the slate on, and then wait for it to dry. After it is dry put on a couple layers of watered down PVA (about 1 part PVA to 3 or 4 parts water) wait for the previous layer to dry before applying the next. It sets quite hard and will never fall of easily. For the larger pieces as Irak said use super glue. Hope this helps.

Guilliman and the Ultramarines are like Manchester United, everyone hates them because they are so awesome!

Yes, it is the fine slate, not much bigger then grains of kosher salt.
I have been using PVA glue befor putting it on, but I havn't tried it after it has dried. I'll give this a try and let you know if it works. Thank you.

I use something called Aleene's Tacky Glue, it's like regular pva glue but a bit more thicker and a lot stronger too.

Or theres the good old favourite of 2 part epoxy resin. Take a hand grenade to shift it after that!
