Have anyone seen the Iron Hands Terminators? Yeah, the squad who won 40k squad Golden daemon 2009? Good. Does anyone know anything about how they where made? The Storm Shields? The extended hammers? The Terminator-modified bionic implants? Because, I would really, REALLY want to make one such squad - I might not be one such helluva painter, but still... The Iron hands are my (only) favorite loyalist chapter.

Link would be awesome.

For reference this is the squad you are talking about.

The extended Thunder Hammers is probably just some plasticard rods placed onto the end of actual thunder hammers.

The storm shields appear to the be scratch builds, it wouldn't be too hard, would just take some time and patience wit the cutting to do the symbols etc.

The bionics I think look as though they are from the power armour kit as all I can see in that photo is the two feet that have been replaced.

I am not so sure about the heads.

Someone might have a better insight.

Indeed, that is the ones.
I agree about the thunder hammers, that is probably just the normal Th with attached platic rod/brass rob, a bit modified.
But those shields...

Wait! I know now! Look at these!
http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Space_Marines/Space_Marine-Vehicle-Accessories/IRON-HANDS-LAND-RAIDER-DOORS.html
Those look pretty similar, don't you think?

edit: When I wrote this, it was mostly answering Winters post, but I think the LR doors look more similar than the icons Em_en_oh_pee posted...

Well, the doors have cogs that are broken-looking. The icons I posted can be easily put onto a plasticard shield of some sort. Of course, you could be right.

I'd be more inclined to agree with the icons rather than the doors. The cog outline is too different on the doors.

You could just use thin plasticard to do the Cog and then whack the icon over it and shield = done.

I have my WD (362) where more pictures of these guys can be found, and what do you know! The shields actually have small cracks on them.

Then that guy has a lot of patience for turning doors into shields.

Not to mention painting that NMM, which is simply fabulous! Ok, I think we have the weapons and shields covered... How about the bionic heads and all that?

edit: Now that you mention it though, I noticed that the hands on the shields are smaller than they appear to be on the doors, and also don't have skulls on them (which the icons have). Perhaps you could be right about that it is icons... But that'll save a little time, so it's not really a disadvantage.

Everywhere I'm not supposed to be.

The head on one of the termies almost looks like a servitor head, but it's far too early/late for me to bothered looking it up. The Sgt.'s head, I have no clue on, nor can I tell you what his arm is made of.

If you need me, I'll be busy wiping the layers of dust off my dice.

Perhaps a Tomb spyder arm?

And about the heads... I can tell you I am only interested in the helmeted ones

Yea, I have no idea how the rest of the stuff was done - just the shields. Otherwise, it could be any amount of plasticard and/or greenstuff, etc.

What would you say about the possibility that he cut the termi-head in two, and glued an Iron hand SM head (also cut in half) on it?

One head is from the Black templar Servitor and from the generic servitor blister

Sergent's/Captain's head looks similar to the one from the Iron Hands squad box

Honestly the shields look like foam board/Plastic card with forgeworld decals or tank sprue details added.

The extended weapons is a simple copper rod with a green-stuff molding on the end while the Sergent/captain is a shaved down and skimmed mod to the Imperial fists Lysander
extra details from the Iron Hands squad box set.

And as for the terminator with the targeter on his eye, well the old metal Termies had the odd model which included the eye do dad here's an example though I'm not sure who made it
I got the image of Google having sold all my old Termies years ago.

The sgt is a converted Lysander. The fists symbols have been filed off the right shin and wang-plate and the bionic thingy added to the eyes/forehead. The cloak and hammer is all original from what I can see in that picture, obviously something else has been used for the bionic left arm but it's hard to tell what it is.

You seem to be right about most things here, santobell. Though I think the sergeant conversion's head is just lysanders with green stuffed eye-thingy.
So... Just to begin buying what's needed! I'll put up some pictures when I finish them... in the far future...

Correct, the plate on the side of his head is original, the bionics is either gs or a random bit from one of the sprues.
