I have been thinking about this little theory for a while and it really does make me dissapionted with GW. My main arguement is this, I know we have a generic space marine codex now which covers the codex specific chapters i.e Ultramarines, Salamanders, Raven Gaurd etc. But you would think because the Blood Angels, Dark Angels, Space Wolves even the Black Templars get there own codex you would think that the Ultramarines the most loyal, Steadfast and honourable chapter in the imperium they would have there own codex because i dont think sticking them in a generic book is fair to these mighty warriors. If the PR departments thought about it they could easily push out a codex for these boys and players would lap it up, even if they put the other chapters who in my eyes get no praise either in a generic book they could take out all the pages about Ultras and free up more space for new Fists, salamanders, iron hands (who have nothing) raven gaurd and white scars characters and new rules. Im sure there are players out there who want more rules for the 6 chapters who get nothing compaired to the templars wolves and angels. So come on GW lets put the other marine chapters in the limelight for a bit.

This is not a rules discussion. Ultramarines don't need a Codex, and I'm sure you'll attract lots of Ultra-haters with this thread.

1) Wall of text is bad.
2) Codex: Space Marines IS Codex Ultramarines. In fact, in 2nd ed it was called exactly that.
3) Wrong forum.

Ultramarines suck blah blah blah bloody blah.

Anyway, BA,DA,SW,BT all get their own codex because they don't adhere to the codex astartes->space marine codex, while ultramarines who invented (Guilleman did) and all those who appear in C:SM follow this system, which means that although they may get meagre variations, there aren't really big changes. Such as, death company/vehicle rules for BA (there are probably more but I don't have a BA codex), ravenwing/deathwing for Da, and wolfguard/wolf scouts/ blood claws/ long fangs etc for SW.

Brb learning to play.

I love ultramarines, but sm are only army that got lots of addons... What about other armies? Eldars and their craftworld? Tyranids and their hive fleets? They should then all have their codexes .... And that would be really inpractical...
And sm codex describes them quite nicely... You have ultramarine special characters... What else could you possibly want

This should be in 40K Discussion but there is nothing to discuss.

The vanilla SM codex is the Ultramarines codex.

Locking thread.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.
