Yes lots of anything, I would advise you to get either two boxes of strum Kompanie or, Falskirmjagers. But you could also get the German starter sett and add more Panzer 4s and a group of tigers for a really nasty surprise.

When playing as Germans, remember to have open lanes of fire for your tanks. Or to have lots of AT infantry, witch is essential against late war Russians and Americans/Brits

Buy first the big rule book if its not included in the open fire box. Then I suggest either a book from the middle war or late war. Depends on what you want to play

Well here is what I bougth for my Grenadiers.

1 starter sett for Germans witch included
2 plattons of grenadiers with 5 MG options
2 half track AT wagons
2 88 AA guns
4 or 5 Panzer 4s

After that I added
2 Stum kompaines for the AT capabilities
4 Panzer 4s
3 Panthers
3 Stutkas dive bombers
2 10.5 Howitzers
Half track transports for the infantry

I do not have the current cost of all this in my head. Since I have not counted my points latly. But this gives you a army that can handle everything that comes along, so run along and buy.

Almost any German company can use the Nebelwerfers, it's up to you to decide what you want to play.

My recommendation for a beginner would be a Fallschirmjaegerkompanie. They are Fearless Veterans (the best rating you can get) and fought during all stages of the war. There are minor changes in equipment from period to period, but with such small miniatures it's hardly noticeable. You could paint up a core force of a couple Fallshirmjaeger platoons and just swap out the support options between periods, which would save on costs.

What books you buy depends on what period you'd like to play. There is nothing for Fallshirmjaegers in the Early War (as far as I know), but you can find Mid War lists for them in Eastern Front and Late War lists in both Fortress Europe and Hell's Highway.

The FoW site is blocked at work...

What scale are the models? I'm guessing 1/72.

Well, they're listed as 15mm, so I think that would be more like 1/100 scale (even though their aircraft are listed as 1/144 scale).

Aircraft are intentionally off-scale for FoW, I believe. It works, i guess, as they're mostly just 'markers' for the effect, althoguh the rules do allow them to get shot down. It's blocked here, as well, but i think they are 15mm.

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.

After some research, 15mm is 1/122 scale.

1/144 isn't too far off, at those sizes. That's scale has gotten fairly popular with aircraft. Lots of nicely detailed models have come out lately.

Wargames figure scales are quite......... variable.

You can argue all day about what a figures actual scale is, the important point is that they are SOLD as 15mm, not 1/100, 1/144 etc.

The Lieutenant is a Punk! And a pretty 2nd rate Punk at that.......

You know I love dakka for all you folks who must argue every little detail,as a retailer of ten years selling train and toy soldiers my effort to help always makes me feel like I was wasting my time but only here at the dakka site so now I need to post a picture showing the 1/100 scale icon in the bottom left corner of a FOW army box. 1/100 &15mm SAME
