Has anyone played this?

Is it any good?

A friend and I are likely to buy it and give a go and I would like to know stuff about it please.

(Also I wasn't sure if this should go in here or skirmish scale forum.)

Based on LOTR system with pirate bits and a campaign system like Mordheim.

Great game if you like the LOTR system and pirates.

If you dislike either of those... avoid it.

Played it a few times but got a little bored of it after three or four games, but I was never fond of LOTR...

Pretty much.

I like it myself. Fast paced and fun. I liked it so much that it convinced me to give LotR another shot after it failed miserably with its first ruleset. Not to mention boat rules to use after you either build your own vessel or buy one of the many aftermarket kits available from various model companies.

This is my take on it:

Wait so this is also like Legends of the Old West? Sans boat rules

Mordheim plays well. So I will most likely enjoy this.
How about the boat rules themselves?
