The Gant squads are set up weird to fit two equal 1000point list that can be used together.

The Primes are obviously for the abuse of the area terrain cover save rule for mixed unit types as well as the usefulness of the Lash whip combined with Fexes.

Tervigons...do what Tervigons do...which on top of a 4+ save on Fexes makes them nearly indestructable to missiles.

You only need two units of Termagants to get both of your Tervigons as troops. Swap out two groups of Termagants for two units of Hormagaunts. They're weight-of-numbers attackers so don't skimp on them but good heavens are they awesome. The little guys are my workhorse unit in every list I take. Tervies 4+ Feel No Pain coupled with a 4+ cover save makes them staggeringly durable for the points cost and they'll haul ass across the battlefield. If you aren't in assault by turn three at the worst something's gone horribly wrong.

Carnifexes I would seriously drop. We have to admit GW has screwed them into uselessness. Just go with the flow and take Trygons.

Why don't I focus in and better utilize the abilities my Tervigons bring instead of putting more points into less models?

Trygons aren't as survivable as these Fexes and don't have nearly enough Dakka.

It would take both tyranid primes to give one brood of 2 fexes a cover save. A single prime joining each brood wont do it.

Termagant spam is a bit of a risky strategy. Without the tervigons supporting abilities they are too weak to really kill anything, and it's not uncommon for a brood to get pulled out of the tervigons 6" supergaunt aura when they make or receive a charge.

Hormagaunts are a little more expensive, but they are a lot more reliable.

EDIT: Oh, and definitely keep the dakkafexes. It's just too much fun throwing bucketloads of str6 shots at your opponent each turn.

Well I must applaud you for not using podding zoans. Maybe at least one terma brood should be hormas. Maybe a Venomthrope for fun and cover saves but might not do well for duals
