Spore Mines bought in groups must deploy using the deep striking rules prior to regular deployment (but after objectives are placed). while i believe they can deviate out, do they have to be deployed in your mission specific deployment zone? i.e. can you place them at the half table marker in dawn of war and force your opponent to possibly not be able to deploy via the 18" rule? can you opt to deep strike them outside of your deployment zone? after looking at the rules, i didn't see any exclusion for them regarding the deployment zone rules, just that they must deepstrike and do so before others are placed. did i happen to miss something elsewhere?

The Deep Strike rules themselves allow Deep Striking units to deploy anywhere on the board.
Since the Spore Mines' rules don't mention doing it any differently, they follow the normal rules.

Here's a question on the same topic.
A spore mine deep strikes into difficult terrain. One of them rolls a 1 and dies. The rules state if a spore mine suffers a wound, it explodes. Does this apply to deep striking? If it suffers the wound and explodes, does it hit the other spore mines in the group and cause them to explode as well?

I would say if it suffered the dangerous terrain wound it explodes, and if that explosion hits friendly models and they are wounded they then explode.

that one i can answer... yes it does. you deviate, place the models and then take dangerous terrain for landing in difficult when deepstriking. if you roll a 1 for any of them, you WILL catch and most likely (5/6 to wound) kill the others in a chain reaction.

Bummer. I was hoping to use them as terrain denial for enemy shooting squads. They will still have a cover save. So long as one of them survives, it can still keep a squad off of a ledge in a building, etc.
