There were once a race of fishmen. What happened to them, does anyone have any pics?

Aren't the fishmen just a joke or did they really exist at some point?

Fishmen are an old insider gag of GW, always announced as a project but never done.
Here a collection of alternative miniatures:

My guess is fishmen became murlocs since warcraft was funded by GW originally before they decided not to go ahead with it.. Then blizzard just did it on their own

Why does this story keep coming up? It simply isn't true(unless both Blizzard AND GW are lying about it) and there's no evidence to support it.

GW has worked with several computer developers in the past and this story NEVER fits with Blizzard's development history because of the fact that GW was working with Blizzard competitors at those times(Electronic Arts at the time of the original Warcraft and SSI at the time of Starcraft).

Facts > internet conspiracy every time.

Are you talking about the firmir?

As for Blizzard v. Games Workshop you should think about this: Warcraft has orcs, Warhammer has orcs. Coincidence? I think not. Why don't you just go and think that over.

Man, Peter Jackson and Tolkein totally worked with GW, too! Where'd I put that link to the BL forums where Kid_Kyoto complains about how the novelization for Lord of the Rings sucked because of how much that Tolkein guy changed things from the movies? BL should totally fire Tolkein, he's so bad!

It's a myth, because Warcraft sucks and GW suck less =p

As for the fishmen, Kroothawk is right.

I won't bother.

Fishmen idea went belly up. It was a big flop.

They prefer to be called "fishpeople" nowadays.

After all, it's more PC

AAAAAEEEEEEE! I'd TOTALLY play with a Fishmen army if they looked like those models! The Zulu-Sharks are amazing and the fishnet banner is pure genius! And a monsterous octopus...

Thanks for the link, yo

Why are you asking this? You already asked in GW and some people there told you the answer (it was unpleasant to say the least).

Yes ... I know what you mean. Anyway, wouldn't fishmen be a flop anyway? If they are fish, they can't breathe out of water and if GW said they could, they'd basically be lizardmen.

CommisarCandlestick, there's nothing wrong with asking again... especially if he got an "unpleasant to say the least" answer the first time around in a GW!

Lots of people are interested in fishmen, for laughs or for real, as evidenced by fan army books like this:
http://naut1.blogspot.com/

It probably needs to be updated for 8th edition (last update was in May), but the creator has a large number of models for fishmen that he has collected / painted shown on the site, as well (not sure if this is related to the project Kroothawk linked to above or not).
