I know, another mechanized IG list...I am trying to get a ticket to Vegas from Murfeesboro, Tn and my Tau army simply does not have the right models and my Daemons are currently incomplete...so...this is a list I am comfortable playing and know the ins and outs of...Every model in the list I own and is painted to an above average table top standard...complete with squad markings and the such...but I am willing to make changes as I have plenty of models to choose from...including many daemonhunter models including grey knights, termies, etc....thanks for looking...
CCS Colonel Iron Lung
4x melta
Plasma Pistol
Chimera ML, HF
Troop 1 Veterans "The Green Snakes"
3x melta with shotguns
Chimera ML, HF
Troop 2 Veterans "The last of the Cadian 4th Commandos"
2x melta
1x grenade launcher
Chimera ML, HB
Troop 3 Platoon Command Squad "Sarge Backhand and his Cigar Lighters"
4x flamer
Melta bombs
Chimera ML, HB
Troop 3 Infantry Squad** "Steel Legionnaires Alpha"
Autocannon, Meltagun
Chimera ML, HB
Troop 3 Infantry Squad** "Steel Legionnaires Beta"
Heavy Bolter, Plasmagun
Chimera ML, HB
** I know these are not optimum weapon loadouts...these models are old Steel Legion models painted to match their rides...hard to change...On the positive side it is good for fluff and being a little non-cookie cutter...
Troop 3 Infantry Squad "Backhand's Backbone"
Autocannon, GL
Chimera ML, HF
Troop 3 Infantry Squad "Also Backhand's Backbone"
Autocannon, GL
Chimera ML, HF
Heavy 1 Leman Russ Battle Tank
Lascannon, sponson HB's
Heavy 2 Leman Russ Battle Tank
Lascannon, sponson HB's
Heavy 3
Basalisk
Fast Attack 1
Hellhound
Smoke Launchers
Elite 1
8 man Psyker Battle Squad
Chimera ML, HB
That list is 1850 on the money...I am unsure of keeping the Hellhound and the Basalisk...I would like to free up enough points to get some deep striking Grey Knight termies on the board...but not sure where...I think the PBS is key to breaking tough units and watching them run off of the board...
Strategy...Generally my 2 meltavets and HQ storm the middle of the board looking for enemy transports but popping smoke the first turn.....my flanks get covered my LR battle tanks looking for anything that fell out of transports first and if not...then transports secondly...the psyker battle squad looks for its first target to reduce their leadership to 2...if they found one first off then the LR's often fire upon them to get a leadership test...followed by the bassie...the hellhound generally speeds up a flank popping smoke...troops in chimera's will find objective's/table quaters/etc.....using the steel legionaires and bassie to hold mine...if home objective is in terrain the AC troops get out and pile in while their rides act as screens by popping smoke and then flaming squads that fell out of their transports...anwyay...thanks...

Drop the HB on russes, upgrade the bassie into a manticore. Not too keen on the platoon. I would do away with their heavy weapons to keep them mobile or convert them to vets

all good advice...probably keep the HB's on the russes for wep destroyed results and static firepower...this argument has aged for a minute and I think arguments for all russ setups are just about as valid as the next...but my argument is that even if the battle cannon is destroyed the russ can still hunt armor and infantry...
so if I drop two of the platoon's heavy weps would you give them power weapons or drop the GL also for a flamer and call it good?...not sure what would be best without the heavy weps...probably keep 2 of the four with the heavy weps for a firebase...
bassie to manticore...good call...I was thinking about a vendetta for the bassie...I have neither of those change over's though and would need to buy the models...hmmm...
Thanks...

I agree, Manticore would do better for you than a Bassy. The loadouts aren't optimum, but I don't think they necessarily suck. GL's are underrated IMO.
However, I think converting those troops to vets isn't a bad idea.

HB sponsons on Russes is very nice. Keep in mind, it is not a tank hunting model. It is designed to kill troops. If you keep them in the center of your army and flanked by chimeras and whatnot, it can stay stationary pretty safely and do some massive dmg

the bassie is fine (but so is the manticore). The only thing that I think really needs to go is the PBS. With only a single piece of artillery, weaken resolve isn't doing as much, and as for the pie plate attack, you're spending as much as a russ to throw out a russ pie plate, except it's only on AV12.
That and your infantry is probably not going to do a whole lot, expecially those two squads that you're going to dilute the charge with by hanging back to plink with autocannon fire. If you really want to do this, at least take hydras.
That and the GL mixed in with the melta vets makes me cry.
Anyways, this list has a fair amount of durability, as I'm sure you've by now noticed, but it could use another dollop of killing power added.
