I kept saying to my friend the other day that I need to start making bat reps of the games my orks play, because my orks are hilarious. I've only been playing 40k for a couple months now, so I'm still trying out new units, new things, and having a good time.

That being said, I doubt you're all in this thread wanting my life-story, so let me get into my brief bat rep. It wont be too detailed, as this was played a couple weeks ago, but the game keeps coming up as a highlight for me, so I feel it should be a good time to type it out and share with you all. I hope no one gets too turned off by my lack of specifics in some areas.

So, my list. I wanted to test Ghazghkull, and trukks full of boys, and some other random stuff. Not a super competitive list, but I learned a lot and had a LOT of fun - it went something like this (we play 1500 points):

1x Ghazghkull
1x Mek w/ KFF & 'Eavy Armour & PK

9x lootas
9x lootas

1x deffkopta w/ TL rokkitz & Buzzsaw
1x deffkopta w/ TL rokkitz & Buzzsaw
3x warbuggies w/ TL rokkitz

1x Looted Wagon w/ shoota, boarding plank, Grabbin' Klaw, Wreckin' Ball
1x Looted Wagon w/ shoota, boarding plank, Grabbin' Klaw, Wreckin' Ball
1x Looted Wagon w/ shoota, boarding plank, Grabbin' Klaw, Wreckin' Ball

12x boyz, nob w/ PK & BP & 'Eavy Armour - dedicated transport trukk w/ boarding plank
12x boyz, nob w/ PK & BP & 'Eavy Armour - dedicated transport trukk w/ boarding plank
11x boyz, nob w/ PK & BP & 'Eavy Armour - dedicated transport trukk w/ boarding plank

My friend (Dave) was playing Chaos Space Marines. I don't know anything except Orks, so I am just guessing at his list:

1x Demon Prince

1x Squad of Chaos Space Marines, Rhino, other stuff
1x Squad of Chaos Space Marines, Rhino, other stuff
1x really big squad of Khorne Berserkers

1x Defiler
2x Obliterators together in a squad
1x Land Raider (carrying around the Khorne Berserkers)

We play with a lot of terrain, so there were buildings and craters everywhere. We roll for game type and come up with multiple (4) objectives and place them fairly evenly near the 4 corners of the board (each one about 16' in from each corner, I think). We roll pitch battle, and Ghazghkull decides he's going first.

I deploy the two deffkoptas in the middle of my deployment zone, my lootas hanging out in a crater near the middle of my deployment. I play my 3 looted wagons out front, with Ghaz in the middle one, near the middle of my zone, just to the left a hair. I place them out front, facing where I want to move them, just in case they decide to 'press dat'. I put the trukks behind them but am running out of room, so one trukk is just off to the left behind the other trukks, and will be going through/around some terrain to catch up to the other group. They're fast and the looted wagons are not, shouldn't be an issue. The warbuggies are beside the looted wagons, again they are fast, so they should be able to get out front soon enough and screen my wagons and then trukks full of boys.

My plan: Move everything up the left side of the board, and mush his stuff. If any trukks pop the boys can hop in the wagons, and if he's shooting at wagons (AV11) then the boys are more likely to enjoy his front lines.

He deploys opposite me, with land raider out front and very mindful of terrain, so my lootas have very little to shoot at. One Rhino in each corner, near objectives.

I scout a deffkopta towards each rhino, nothing much else for them to go after anyway.

Turn 1:

Before anything else can happen, Ghazghkull, the tactical genius, shows the rest of his boyz how it's done, by (of course) 'pressing dat'. He roars forward about 11' before hitting terrain, failing his test, and immobilizing his wagon . My first lesson learned on the value of rams. Everyone else moves forward as planned, avoiding terrain, and leaving enough room between each transport for units to get out and hop into another one, just in case. The deffkoptas and lootas end up successfully popping both rhinos either with shooting or assaulting.

He moves his defiler, raider and demon prince forward, taking shots at me from a few different units. I don't recall what all he popped, think just a stunned or shaken on a couple buggies. His marines munch my deffkoptas.

Turn 2:

Ghazghkull is enraged, and spends his turn smashing the heads of everyone in his looted wagon (I forgot to pop him out, and even moved my other wagon in place to protect line of sight to him for when I did). My tanks move forward, and the trukk that was trying to go around a tower, through a crater, gets immobilized. Sigh. At least they're only about 4' away from that corner objective. My lootas take aim at his defiler, but only half of 'em can see, and he ignores them.

On his turn the marines hang out on objectives, and his three main guys (Demon Prince, Land Raider, Defiler) move forward, we're now super close to each other. His obliterators and everyone take shots at my stuff, I think they popped a wagon, nothing super amazing.

Turn 3:

Ghaz is now right ticked off that the other boyz have moved (a couple inches past) on without him and hops out of his wagon. He looks around for someone to fight, or shoot at, but can only see looted wagons and trukks in all directions. He's getting angrier, and a little bored. I move my trukks and wagons foward, and a trukk attempts to boarding plank the defiler, with only shaken and stunned quality results. A wagon tries to wreckin' ball his land raider, with no success. Nothing else I do does much.

Between his shooting he opens up both of my trukks. One trukk loses a couple boyz and they get pinned, the other trukk let its boyz out without losing any. The land raider tries to move, but the grabbin' klaw doesn't think that's such a good idea, and holds it successfully in place! The defiler munches on the pinned boyz squad. The Demon Prince flies over the tanks, lands in front of Ghaz, and the two of 'em get into an epic boxing match! They both take a wound and stay locked in.

Turn 4:

With one troop immobilized in my deployment, one eaten up, and one staring down at a defiler, things are not looking good. My shooting doesn't do much, but Ghaz decides it's time to WAAAAAAGGGGG (as he was afraid of dying that turn) and finish off this annoying demon. Ghaz takes no wounds and puts another one or two into his opponent. My looted wagon doesn't land his wreckin' ball hit on the land raider. My squad of boyz decides not to fight the defiler, and charges towards his marine squad. With the KFF and nob in that squad I thought the fight would be decent, but they got pretty battered up. I lost 'em all except the nob, who died at the bottom of 4. My warbuggies, which had not been doing much, have slowly been moving forward towards his far objective to take shots at his space marines. Between the rokkitz, lootas, and assault, I ended up finishsing off a squad the next turn, but I immobilized a buggy on terrain.

His land raider dodges the grabbin' klaw this time, and strategically angles around the Ghaz/Prince fight, towards my lootas, and the 4th objective. His defiler munches up my other squad of boyz, and at this point I only have one looted wagon left. Ghaz finishes off the princess, and consolidates towards my only mobile wagon.

Turn 5:

My immobilized boyz in the corner hop out of their trukk and sit on their objective. My lootas do very little, my buggies ended up killing an obliterator, either this turn or last turn. Ghaz races towards the land raider who got away, and while speeding toward it is hanging out the front of the wagon swinging his power klaw. He misses, of course, but the Khorne Berzerkers inside get a little weirded out at the sight.

His Berzerkers in the land raider decide it's time to leave the crazy circus ork behind and try to move towards my lootas, but Ghaz has something else in mind - the grabbin klaw pops out and again holds onto the land raider! It holds the raider in place while Ghaz prepares to punch it good and hard. The berzerkers bail out of the land raider, and race towards my lootas, wiping out one squad. He pops Ghazghkulls wagon, I think with an obliterator, who cuddles up beside the land raider.

At this point, I have one objective, he has one objective, but I have almost nothing left. His Khorne Berzerkers are going to munch my second loota squad and then sit on their objective, and his defiler had moved closer to my boyz on their objective. We roll it up and get another turn - there goes my chance at a tie, heh.

Turn 6:

Ghazghkull punches the land raider, who of course did not move the previous turn, and explodes it. The Khorne Berzerkers look back over their shoulders with a bit of a WTF look on their face. (Side Note: The only reason I play warhammer 40k, is so I can make stuff punch tanks. Nothing is cooler than a walker, or a dude with a power klaw, punching a tank. This was my first land raider punch, and it felt great even though I was probably going to be tabled soon). That's about all I had left, my boyz are hiding on their objective, in terrain for the cover, and everyone else had been wiped.

His Khorne Berzerkers wipe my lootas and sit on their objective. His defiler charges into my boyz, and I finally get a worthwhile PK hit - wrecking his defiler, sweet.

He holds two objectives now, to my one - but we get a last turn!

Turn 7:

Ghaz has killed a demon prince and a land raider, so he's feeling pretty confident. He also has no idea that everyone else who went into battle with him is now dead. He moves towards the khorne berzerkers to challenge their objective, but can't get close enough to charge. They get in their furious charge, and destroy him. The game ends at the bottom of 7, with his 2 objectives to my one.

Thoughts, etc.:

This was a really fun game. Ghaz was a MVP... when he finally got out and decided to start playing. I learned the hard way that 5 points to get a re-roll on terrain tests is worth it. I immobilized a trukk, a looted wagon, and a buggy (which being part of a squad gets destroyed) because of it. The wreckin' balls didn't do as much as I'd hoped, but the grabbin' klaws were amazing. I didn't have enough troops, and orks in trukks are tough, 11 + a nob just isn't quite enough. If I'd had 20 (battlewagons worth) they woulda lived longer during the defiler fights, and given me more chances to punch with the PK.

Think that's about all I got in me for typing tonight, so hope anyone who reads this enjoys it

The lootas were hanging out by themselves in cover, the other 2 looted wagons were empty - just a back-up transport in case a trukk or ghaz's wagon got popped.

The Berzerkers musta only been 10 strong, it just felt bigger because they wtfpwn'd Ghaz :(

weird how they killed ghaz haha. He has a 2 plus armour save and could at most have had 1 powerweapon or powerfist. Must have been bad luck.

I have never found Looted Wagons to be worth the points if you're just going to use them as a transport. Trukks work better and are faster. The only thing that I find Looted Wagons good for is to carry around a boomgun. That can do some serious damage. But, as a transport they aren't as good as trukks, and not nearly as good as battlewagons. Also, taking empty transports is probably a waste of points. It's probably be a better value to drop the looted wagons and take another trukk full of boyz. Or better yet a battlewagon with a deff rolla!!! Anyway, a good battle report. It always warms my heart to see Ghazghkull go out and tear it up. Keep up the WAAAGH!!!

Squad of 10 berzerkers would be 36 normal attacks and probably 4 powerfist attacks its enough to kill him.

Good report i think you got unlucky with your difficult terrain tests lol.
