Well before all the people arrive trying to off-topic this thread, lets see some speculation on things everyone would like to see. We obvious know a few specific details but the rest can be left to the imagination. So keeping it somewhat within the scope of possiblity:

What kinds of new units do you expect to see? New Weapons? Upgrades? Special Rules?

Let the speculation run rampant.

My guess is that it will take them ten years before they are actually released. And, by then, the new Necrons still won't be in sight.

I won't bother.

I'm kind of hopping that Reaver Jetbikes become a troops option like our Eldar brethren. Maybe cause I just like the models, a lot.

Poisoned weapons for Mandrakes (or an option at least). Right now they're just guardsmen who can hide really really well.

Reduced cost of/cost of options for Scourges. What we have to pay for what we get is way over costed.

Reduced cost of Succubus upgrade option for RJB's and Hellions. 16 points for +1 Attack and options is ridiculous.

An all-female Wych sprue, sculpted by Jes Goodwin and/or Juan Diaz, sold at Troops choice prices (15 pounds for 10).

As much as the new models would be welcomed by many it is the codex that I will be eager to see.
The costing had better change as mentioned.
Also having played a few times I never understood that the speed of the DE actually works as an advantage, but that may be me missing something. (highly probable)

My wild guesses:

Raiders that can disembark assaulting troops after a 24" move and flat-out for them is 36".

Scourges or something like them as a true fast attack choice that can use the web-way instead of a jump pack.

No more class differentations and limitations from Haemonoculi, to Wyches to regular DE.

I'd like to see new units and all existing units viable. I'd like to be able to make hard decisions and play test units other than knowing "ok this unit is down right impossible to use" , probably asking for a lot but I'm hoping we get something like the space wolf codex or IG codex.

they would make a lot of sense imho and would be welcomed here.
DE's distinguishing characteristic, apart from unmitigated and remorseless cruelty, is speed, faster speed, and yet more fastest speed.
Would be good to make use of it.

Do any other armies have that class difference limiting army construction?
Can't think of any and stand to be corrected.

So you want an entire army that can first turn assault? That would mean with the first turn a game would be about 5 minutes.

DE move 24" disembark 2" fleet 1-6" assault 6"... That gives you up to a 50" ASSAULT RANGE. no way, they are fast, but not that fast. There are very few fast assault vehicles, one is the Ork Trukk, the other is the Storm Raven for BA and soon to be DH. Fast and open topped is still a niche that few other races have.

Please check your math.

More than anything else, just updating the models past the late 90s plastic-modeling techniques would go a LONG way towards improving them.

Well it's better than being shot off the table by turn 2

Fwiw I didn't write that. but yeah getting tired etc didn't think it through

Not sure where the 50" came from though?
Ah 36" + wot you said? That is way to far.
Any way I am going to sleeps now.

I agree with Sven that this would suck horribly. If you're going to use an "I-Go-You-Go" system with no Overwatch, making it possible to assault the enemy gunline from the front, without cover, without being shot once is like putting up a neon sign saying "Look how much our ruleset sucks!".

Scourges or something like them as a true fast attack choice that can use the web-way instead of a jump pack.

You'd need to make sure you differentiate them from Warp Spiders.

No more class differentations and limitations from Haemonoculi, to Wyches to regular DE.

The Dark Eldar need more background, not less.

that would be madness moving that far! my tau would be boned hardcore unless...kroots..lots and lots..but no thats far and quite ridiculous. i agree with alexholker they need more background maybe a whole other sect next to wyches maybe. Something like a sect of slaves beat up space marines and orks and taus all tortured into fighting in the DE army, i think that would be cool they would be like the penal (giggidy) legion of imperial guard.

That would not be cool. I'm very much not a fan of attempts to boost one faction by tearing other factions down, like that "Tyranids overwhelmed an Iron Warriors fortress-world" BS. Space Marines and Orks are not enslavable, especially not if you expect them to fight for you. Human and Tau civilians, sure, but not the kinds of soldiers who would immediately turn around and rip your throat out with their teeth.

Remember there's grotesque's. The lobotomised/zombified/altered playthings of Haemonculi. Thats your slave sect right there. Would be cool to have actually decent rules for them now.

Downunder

I would like to see customisable Grotesques, like being able to give them rending thanks to razor sharp semi-physical, semi-ethereal talons, or being able to make them Cavalry+MTC+Stealth because they're Spider-taurs that ambush through terrain.

Raiders and Warriors could do with some distinction other then the Transport and special/heavy weapon options. Something like giving raiders a CCW and something like the old True Grit rule to make them seem more like PIRATES and less like "The Snooty Rich Kids Who Got A Car When They Got A License

Also littlenibbler Orks aren't about armour saves.
Orks are about having too many models on the table, and wasting the other guy's time with your movement phase.
Orks are about having the toughest units on the table.
Orks are about not caring about how many bodies are left in a long winding trail until the squad is down to less than a third its starting strength.
Orks are about rolling more dice then you can count without the aid of a calculator or a pen and paper.
Orks are about having totally fething insane characters tearing gak down like Doc Grotsnik, Ghazghkull or Snikrot.
Orks are about being too fething awesome to die...

I just hope that maybe, just maybe, my Harlies will play a role in the new codex. If so, absolutely starting a DE army

It was stated in rumours that the Harlies are expected to be in the new codex.

I kinda like the fluff lots, not so much the minis (personal taste caveat) but may get some or convert. (bad idea already too many projects)

Well what I meant specifically here are a few...bad implementations (IMO) in the original codex. For example, the only template weapon is the Haemonoculi Destructor. Why in the world would these 'class' specific weapons be restricted? Should have been a normal squad upgrade.

Secondly, how there could be no intermingling of certain choices if you were running specific armies. Wych armies can't have Haemonoculi for example. It'll be nice to be able to mix it up instead of having thses kinds of restrictions. And more fluff is definately 'required'.

For the record on my 'wild guesses' I do agree a 38" assault range would be pretty extreme. However, for those of us that remember the DE for what they were originally proposed to be: A fast army; I'm really disgusted that literally everything that made the DE what they were was stripped from them and given to every other army. Fleet of Foot. Turbo-boosting Jetbikes. At least in 3rd edition DE did live up to that description and I'd like to see it again in this new update.
