Purposeful Hammerhead Pilot





Here's another army idea for the tournament: Daemonhunters. I just traded some IG for them and I thought it would be interesting to try them out. Here's a thought as to what I might use:

HQ:

Grand Master
Storm Shield
Grimoire of True Names
Bionics
Hammerhand
185pts.

Elites:

Vindicare Assassin
110pts.

Troops:

9 Grey Knights and Justicar
2x Incinerator
295pts.

4 Grey Knights and Justicar
Incinerator
160pts.

Heavy Support

Grey Knights Land Raider
250pts.

The Grand Master will join the small squad of 5 (sadly he doesn't fit in the LR) and pick off small units. The 10 man unit rides in the LR and takes out larger squad while the LR kills tanks with its lascannons. Meanwhile the Vindicare will snipe at commanders, tanks etc.

1. Grandmaster only in 1500+ games. Really fits in at 2k. Run a BC for 75 or so points less.

2. To run an Assassin Operative, an inquisitor must be present in your army so you're running an illegal list.

3. Incinerators should only be taken if facing a daemons army. You're a ranged army that is good in assault. Not an assault army that is good at range.

4. If you're going to run a land raider, then run 2 at 1000pts, but I'd just run dreads w/ las cannons.

I'd either run 2 land raiders or pick up another troop choice, (I'd take the land raiders.) You're going to have a hard time holding objectives with that few of models on the board, shrouding or no.

Drop hammerhand, grimoire, bionics and the storm shield (it only applies in CC anyway,) maybe pick up a psychic hood instead since old codex gives it unlimited range.

1k points is tricky with GKs, but you can have some success.

At 1k, Daemonhunters aren't viable at all unless you run 2 land raiders if you want a pure GK army. If you don't, then I'd run a stormtroopers/melta/rhino list.

Get Guardsmen. You need those cheap infantry and more importantly, those tank busting tanks.

What are you talking about?...The smaller the game the better GKs are. Because there's less mech and after mech they can handle anything else.

Keep the Grand Maser because he has a Force Weapon of doom. It's scary and everybody knows it...the stormshield is all right but our shields suck...

Incinerators should always be taken...they are not an anti daemon weapon only...they are an assault heavy flamer...awesome.

If I should use Inducted IG, what do you guys reckon I should take? I have 3000pts + of Guard so I have a lot of stuff available.

Lascannon based platoons aren't bad.

It makes you a complete foot list but platoons can take some punishment and you can get enough lascannons in there for fairly cheap and then let the GKs do their work.

And it gives you a ton of scoring units that lets you treat your GKs more like elites.

Why don't you play guard and induct some grey knights? That'll be much more competitive.

Add a squad of PAGK w/ psycannons
GK Hero + Terminators

Because it's not fluffy or cool at all.

But, since you do have so much guard it would be an easier way to gradually build up your GK forces and see what you like.

OK, I'll try and add in a lascannon based platoon. Admittedly, GK are lacking in anti-tank.
