Hi everyone,

This is a revised version of a more Crisis heavy list I have been using. There are 4 units to viably choose from if I want to delay the Troops (which I do) with the Relay, The first HQ squad, Both Elites Teams and the ASS-equipped Broadsides. Usually I will deploy the HQ unit, and all the Broadsides, and the Forge team. If against a less transport-reliant army, I would probably deploy the first HQ unit as well and swap the Forge team for the Hades one. Everything else goes in reserve.

Both Command teams are equipped to deal with infantry, as all the Broadsides mean there will be plenty of exposed infantry early on. The Hades team is aimed at clearing and taking objectives, or stopping any large units bearing down on an important squad/objective. The Forge team act as anti-transport/monstrous creature, and the fusion means they will deter transports coming close, and so can control the opponents movement. This tactic also takes fire away from valuable Command squads. I have always found the Array very valuable on Broadsides, especially when not taking any markerlights. The 'Lanceside' team act as a lure, probably in combination with an HQ team.

HQ: Commander Surefire & Bodyguard: 213
Shas’El, Plasma Rifle, C.I.B., Targeting Array, Multi-Tracker, Bonding Knife, 1 x Shield Drone - 120
Shas’Vre, Plasma Rifle, Burst Cannon, Targeting Array, Multi-Tracker, 1 x Shield Drone – 93

HQ: Commander Coldpoint & Bodyguard: 223
Shas’El, Plasma Rifle, A.F.P, Positional Relay, Multi-Tracker, Bonding Knife, 1 x Shield Drone - 130
Shas’Vre, Plasma Rifle, Burst Cannon, Targeting Array, Multi-Tracker, 1 x Shield Drone - 93

Elites: Hades Pattern Crisis Team:181
Team Leader, Plasma Rifle, Twin-Linked Flamer, Multi-Tracker, Bonding Knife, 2 x Gun Drone - 86
Shas’Ui, Plasma Rifle, Twin-Linked Flamer
Shas’Ui, Plasma Rifle, Flamer, Multi-Tracker

Elites: Forge Pattern Crisis Team: 138
Team Leader, Missile Pod, Fusion Blaster, Multi-Tracker, Bonding Knife, 2 x Gun Drone
Shas’Ui, Missile Pod, Fusion Blaster, Multi-Tracker

Troops: Kroot: 70
10 x Kroot

Troops: Kroot: 70
10 x Kroot

Troops: Fire Warriors: 60
6 x Fire Warriors

Heavy Support: Gyroside Team: 280
Team Leader, A.S.S., 2 x Shield Drone, Bonding Knife
Shas’Ui, A.S.S.
Shas’Ui, A.S.S.

Heavy Support: Scopeside Team: 295
Team Leader, Array, Plasma Rifles, Multi-Tracker, Bonding Knife, 2 x Shield Drone
Shas’Ui, Array, Plasma Rifles
Shas’Ui, Array

Heavy Support: Lanceside Team: 220
Team Leader, Array, Plasma Rifles, Multi-Tracker, Bonding Knife, 2 x Shield Drone
Shas’Ui, Plasma Rifles, Multi-Tracker

1750 exactly. Should I find 10 points for 2 Target Locks on the 3-man Broadside Team Leaders for 2 shots at 4 targets? Re-equip the Forge Team/any of the others? Alter the HQ's kit?

Thank you for reading,

Guy

EDIT: Forgot to add that the lack of any armour is deliberate, striking annoyance into the heart of every meltagun and lance the opponent takes

I'm sorry but this list is terrible as far as being competitive is concerned. Any army with any kind of speed and moderate CC will table you by turn 3 or 4 because you have no actual way of delaying them.

You have no feasible way of taking mid or back field objectives. Fusion blasters are supposed to deter people from tank shocking ld 8 units? You're joking right? You might not even get to shoot a fusion blaster if they just tank shock a drone attached to the unit anyway.

Your crisis suit load outs are bad. The reason is you don't have anything to do with them if someone is 24"+ away. I also don't understand how putting 10 wounds on a tactical squad that don't even bypass their armor or if they're in cover is somehow going to force them off an objective longer than it takes to assault you and run you down.

The "standard" tau units are standard for a reason, without them, tau crumble like wet tissue paper to any real tournament army.

But how do you really feel?

Your basic Arachnid warrior isn't too smart, but you can blow off a limb, and it's still 86 percent combat effective. Here's a tip: Aim for the nerve stem, and put it down for good.

All flamer suits are quickly caught in h2h. Then dead.

Are you dealing with loads of gants and orks all the time?

Shield Drones are superior to GDs in every way, so I'd make that switch.

Again, I'd go with SDs as the GDs will just be single hit ablative wounds, whereas SDs will have XV8 Toughness and Armor Saves, plus the Invuln.

Yes.
