Right. So I've just gotten myself started on the game and I decided to run with a Bretonnian army. As of now all I've purchased is the boxset to get me started so I'm just slightly at a loss of how I should go about building my army.

I've heard that in 8th edition cavalry heavy armies get stomped into the ground but to be honest I'm not really interested in playing competitively, I don't fancy having an army mostly composed of peasants. I'd rather just run a list I can have fun with. I tend to play mostly against a small group of friends. One is running empire as his main army and has just bought some skaven forces. The other has a main army of dwarves and is starting on some Chaos. I'm pretty sure for my next purchase I'm going to get my hands on a trebuchet, after that I'm not particularly sure where to go, I was thinking getting a few more Pegasus Knights so I have something with a lot of mobility would be a sensible purchase afterwards and then I'd maybe start looking into either some casters or more knights.

Essentially I'd just like a bit of guidance on how I should go about drawing up my first army. Thanks.

Who ever told you that cav heavy lists get stomped hasnt played with an all knight Bret army. It owns armies built aroudn multiple small units. Its only weakness seems to be ongoing combats. Thats where you start to lose. Be sure to take a Prophetess with Lore of Life. Hope you get Regrowth as one of your spells. That can help lessen alot of the casulties. Just my opinions.

Heavy calvary are still strong if its a big block just double charge them and they wont hang around with that many attacks, also questing knights are really powerful now and i would recommend using them.

Right, so should I aim to get some questing knights before a Prophetess and some Pegasus Knights or after?

A lore of life Wizard could prove exceptional in a Bret army. Giving questing knights more toughness can give them the edge they need to slug it out at I1

You actually want all of those. I love my prophetess. I love my Pegasus knights. And I love my Questing Knights. All are great. Pegasus knights especially. I think Im going to paint them right now, lol.

I just started myself but from what I understand, fielding lots 6 man Calvary units is the way to go. Use your MoA as bait and get the enemy in the right place and charge your butt off. Everyone tells me to use my PKs as war machine/hero hunters but if you have the points and field enough of them, they can be pretty painful against infantry being Monstrous Calvary now (STOMP! STOMP! STOMP!). I think anyways.

I started with the old battalion box that came with three PKs then I ended up getting another box of knights and two boxes of MoA. I changed up my list since the last game and planning to get another battalion set and another box of knights to bolster three 6 man EK's and get more bowmens and MoA's.

Have at least one damsel and up her to level 2 wizs. Two is better: damsel/damsel or damsel/prophetess. Get the blister pack so you can have two. One on foot and one on a horse and you can run that girl with a unit of knights.
