Subject: Instant Death and Invulnerable Saves

Hello All,
I would rather look stupid and ask vs. cheat someone during a game, so here we go. I play using Sicarius and his weapon causes instant death. I will soon be playing against a character that has an invulnerable save. Am I correct in stating that even though Sicarius has a power weapon that causes instant death, the opponent can still take his invulnerable save against it?
Thanks! :-)

Instant Death is a rule that kicks in when you have an unsaved wound.
You are allowed to take saves to prevent wounds, so yes, an invulnerable save can be used against the power weapon.
There is a common misconception that, for some reason, ID seems to bypass makign saves. This isnt true.

Only weapons that specifically bypass invulnerable saves may do so (such as Necron Warscythes and Psycannons). Instant Death has nothing to do with it.
He may take his invulnerable saves against Sicarius's weapon.

Nor does instant death ignore armour saves at all.
IIRC Sicarius has artificer armour, so if he was hit by a krak missile, he could still take his armour save just fine.

He does, and another example is that T3 sisters and Eldar in power/scorpion armor can take saves against a S6 AP4 assault cannon.

QFT. You should see the fusillade my St. Celestine survived in her first game. Some Ravagers, a raider and the Lord w. retinue all firing... and assaulting. Not a wound. If a weapon that potentiallly causes ID denied saves she'd have died, oh, 10 or so times before the shooting was done.
