I just today got my apocalypse rulebook and I discovered the allies chart, and I really want some allies for my ork death skulls. I already plan to get imperial guard tanks (for obvious looty reasons ), but I would like to get a real allied army so I have narrowed it down to Necrons and CSM. I don't know a huge amount about the armies tactics-wise so I would like to know which will compliment a ork army more

My first thought is CSMs, as they are more likely to ally with anyone compared to the Necron who just want to destroy all life.

Fluff-wise, I think Berserkers and a Khorne army make the most convincing allies since they share a common goal with the Orks (kill maim burn etc).

A Tzeentch or Alpha Legion ally would also be easy, just explain that they're tricking the Orks into fighting their battle (or the wiley Orks are allowing the CSMs to think they are in charge while they get to fight)

Tactically, Orks have a lack of long range heavy anti-tank firepower and while its not Chaos's strong point, they do have some with Predators and Obliterators. Another option is to make a massive walker list, with Deff Dreads, Killa Kans and Defilers all running up the board supported by guys in Rhinos and Trukks. Lots of light armor and close range smashiness.

+1.

I really don't think that Necrons would take too kindly to the...enthusiasm displayed by orks. Also, the trouble of eradicating all those spores once they've served their purpose...Yeah, go with CSM.

There's just an acre of you fellas, isn't there?

Chaos Marines it is then I knew fluff-wise the necron alliance might not work but I didn't think it would be by that easy to come up with a reason as to why CSM would ally with them so now its just a question of which god.

Either undivided, or Khorne. Fluffwise (at least in Waaagh! Da Orks), certain Stormboy cults are known for following Khorne, so a very blood-axe intensive list would work.

How many points would you be playing? Is Forgeworld allowed? Etc, etc.

Well my friends and me aren't hugely competitive (aside from grinding our teeth while we shake the winners hand) so we would probably start off with say 3500-4000pts and only a couple of forgeworld/apocalypse only things but it is likely that we will build up to fair sized apocalypse battles with quite a few forgeworld weapons of mass destruction(already got me eyes on a gargantuan squiggoth) but that won't be for at least 6 months

The new necron codex even describes a battle where orks and necrons ally. Necrons like giving the orks shiney toys and have them destroy their enemies, preferably eldar.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.
