The sink.

I always thought termies couldn't take drop pods, but the question came up tonight whether or not space wolf termies could take them because of the wording of the wolf guard entry. And apparently blood angel termies can take them too?

Wolf Guard in TDA can take them.

C:SM Terminator Squads can't, but ICs in TDA can ride with squads that they are attached to.

I'm not qualified to opine on BA.

Termies can't.

Wolf Guard can. If they so happen to be in Terminator Armour, so be it.

Codex and BA armies can't. Black Templars Can I think.

Okay so here's my question for you, why would you want to put Termies in a drop pod when they can teleport?

Because Drop Pods are much less likely to mishap.

And that Space Wolves can't deep-strike with termie armour. (IIRC)

Slightly off-topic hijack, but, IIRC, in the SW codex, all it says about WG Termies is that they don't LIKE to DS, doesn't explicitly say they can't, or is it simply occluded from the terminator armour entry? Havn't got my codex on me atm...

Their TDA entry does not allow them to Deep Strike, therefore they cannot. (The rule is not granted by the armour, unlike other chapters' TDA).

This is a perfect example of why "it doesn't say I can't" is incorrect.

The TDA doesn't say you can;t Deep Strike, but nor does it say you CAN Deep Strike either.

In the fluff, yes, which has no bearing on the rules.

Good lord, give it a rest. What he was alluding to was the fact that, in this case, the fluff actually does support the rules.

It doesn't matter. It's entirely irrelevant. And statements like "in this case, the fluff actually does support the rules" are only going to spawn more ridiculous comments about how "BUT MY DAEMON PRINCE IS A DAEMON BECAUSE HE SAID FLUFF CAN SUPPORT THE RULES."

And that's a bad situation for everyone.

Fluff /= rules. No exceptions. If the fluff happens to coincide with what the rules say, that's fine, but correlation does not imply causation, and a pattern for defining rules by fluff should not emerge.

Acknowledge that the two are independent of one another and move on.

Alright, I though that C:SM IC's could go in a drop pod even if they had terminator armor on, provided they joined a squad who bought the DP.

Nothing in the vanilla codex terminator armor description states they can't go in drop pods, just the restriction that DP's are dedicated transports that terminator sqauds dont have access to buy. It does say that rhino's and razorbacks are off limits, but not DP's

Yes, that is fine. What you can't do is put a Squad of Terminators in a Tactical Squad's Drop Pod.

Incorrect, BT can take termies in a drop pod.

Check the Drop Pod rules under BT codex.

Yep Drop pod rules tell you how many Termis a drop pod can carry.

Now check the transport options for BT Termies. I'll wait.

Oh, look: no Drop pod as a transport option.

BT Termies cannot take Drop pods because the BT Termi entry does not allow drop pods as a dedicated transport.

For all I(or the rules) care the Drop pod entry in the BT codex can tell you it can transport 10 genestealers; it doesn't matter what the pod rules tell you it can transport, it matters what the units can take as transports.

There is only 1 Option that BT Termies, BT Assault termies, or BT Termi command squads can take; and it is not a drop pod.

LMFAO.

Look at the Crusader Squad options or even the Dreadnought options.

OH LOOK! NO DROP POD!

Nothing had a Drop Pod as a Transport option because the rules for who can take them as a transport are in the drop pod rules. Page 22 (if you bother to open a codex) says "Any Command Squad, <List of units> and all types of Terminator Squad, that number 10 models or less may be equipped with a Drop Pod (see the Transport Vehicles entry for details)."

Sorry K-K, not only are you rude, you are completely wrong.

eh; i've been screaming at my kids all day, and no I hadn't looked at any other unit entries.

This is yet another GW fail at supplying coherent, easy to find rules and options.

The new books are sometimes worse what with having differing Wargear or stats in the Unit descriptions and the Purchase options(Master of the Forge for example).

maybe I'll just call it an early day today; and I apologize for the rudeness.
