This is something I've been wanting to do for a while, and it's between this and daemons for my next army after I finish off my skaven. I'll need something to cheer me up from "brown". So I was thinking armies than can field a reasonable amount of fliers, and here's what I got;

Wood Elves: All characters, Warhawk Riders (ugh), Great Eagles.
High Elves: All characters, Great Eagles (I can have 10 in 2k, overall 15 flying models).
Dark Elves: All characters, Harpies, while not a flier, you would still take Hydras.
Daemons: Lord, Hero, Special, and if you were playing an all flier army you would also want flamers.
Brettonia: You can fit in 3 lords, 4 heroes and 9 pegasus knights in 2k. That's 10 flying units, which would be a good laugh.
Vampires: Lord, 1 Hero, you can have them in special too.

So why fliers? Supreme mobility and they can really abuse true line of sight. High Elves imo should always be running a bunch of great eagles just to hunt out vulnerable stuff. Like enemy wizards. A pair of eagles will finish a hero level in a turn. Fair enough they might not nab a lord, but if they can bring it to a wound then a miscast has a good chance of killing it, or they can go for it after a miscast. There's also the classic of if you have a dragonlord/GD charging an unsuspecting vampire turn one and killing it, causing the army to break down. Always a laugh...

Anyway. Tired rambling aside, all flying army, what do you reckon I should play as for an army like this? I'm liking the looks of Brettonia, High Elves and Daemons the most, from a competitive standpoint. I could see a fairly nasty point denial daemons list working out, whereas the high elves and brettonia would have more killing power and general survivability (GDs don't like cannons).

Anyway, enough rambling.

Why the ugh for Waehawks Archnomad?
Are they that bad?
If it is the models you don't like check out the Gamezone models!

I like the idea of flying knights with the Bretts they look good to me.
Not sure how viable gamewise the idea would be but would have be very aesthetically pleasing.

A bunch of Bretonnian Pegasus Knights would be kinda fun.

Ahh the days when Bretionnian Royal Air Force was a awesome list to use!

Haha, that would be fun. I'm going to point up a list for 2k and see how it'll turn out.

Is this suppose to be legal by the rules? Not sure how you'd make everything flying on the core unit rules for Brets anyways

You forgot terradons, at 2k lizzards could potentially field 5 terradon chiefs (heroes) and 22 terradons spread in up to three units

Chibi Bodge-Battle: I actually love the models, and use them for Great Eagles. The Warhawk Riders are rubbish though. For 10pts more you can get a great eagle, who gives you +1WS, +1 Wound, and one of his attacks doesn't drop to S3 after the first round. And I'm not sure about this but because Warhawk Riders are "Cavalry" I don't know if they get Stomp or not.

Kenshin: One thing I'm worried about is Bretts will get redone pretty shortly I think (probably next year), as they're one of the older books. So I'm a bit timid to start them and find out Pegasus Knights are rubbish. Because this is GW, and anything that was good in the last book will be rubbish in the new one, most likely.

Dreamknight: Yeah it's rules legal, Brettonians can have all their heroes and lords flying and 50% of their special flying if you wanted. In this case it'd be all their lords, heroes and 25% of their special.

HoverBoy: I didn't forget Terradons.... an army of them would just be mince. ^^

And I realised a moment ago you could have all your VC heroes flying, 2am logic failure. (:

Right, but you still have to have line up 50%+ core units running around on the ground like lamb to the slaughter?

It's only 25% mate. And Brett core units are pretty good.

But I don't think bretts would be a good army for this. :L

As far as I know there are none with flying core, right? (ie stuff that does count for the 25%+ core req)
