Alright! First post ever, and first conversion that actually has some effort and love thrown in. Really, it's the first actual conversion. This is a warboss from the Assault on Black Reach box that I am converting into a Grotsnik. This is still early work, and I mod as I go, so no, there is no real set plan for end result.

YES! The backpack/pole is coming off, just not yet. I also wanna throw an apron on the front, if nothing more than to cover the original boss armor stuff. The needle on the power claw hand is between the claws, trying to smooth the green into the grooving ontop to make a more flush look. Those are white coffee stirrers from who-knows and the needle is copper wire from an old cable.

Please, I love to hear what my fellow dakkas think, and make it nice. What am I saying. I want truth! INTERNET GODS! GIVE ME PAIN!

That's brave as hell haha

Well I like the needle, not sure about this guy as a base for the Dok though, seems a little out of the ordinary ^^. I think the apron could use some fine tuning, there are loads of loincloth tutorials that will help with this.

What primer is that? It might be over-applied or is it just hell shiny?

Instead of makeing tubeing out of greenstuff, i would recommend useing either wire or wrapped guitar string, its much easier and you get a better look.

Other then that i think i'm going to have to see what this looks like when its done, it could be pretty cool.

I made the apron as thin as I could, the center just became think when I wrapped te central cord around, so it came out a bit ackward. The primer was a mishap. I ran out of my standard flat black, and borrowed someone else's black, which turned out to be a gloss. whoops. it's just shiny as hell.

the tubing was a last minute need that I had no material for. I took jeweler's wire (22 gauge i think) and used it as the guide. I agree, a wire or guiar string would have been better.

Now we arrive at the initial painting stages. I've reprimed the figure to have even coat, and redone the skin tone.

love the needles. i agree the hoses might be better accomplished another way, either with guitar wire or using plasticard tubing thats been heated a little bit to warp it to the shape you need.
