Subject: Disembarkation question

Never having used vehicles before, I'm just after clarifying a point I came across in the rulebook re disembarkation from transports. The book states that a unit leaving a vehicle that's moved can shoot, and that leaving one that hasn't moved it can move and shoot. Now in brackets in both cases it says shooting counts as moving.
Does this mean a unit disembarking from a vehicle that hasn't moved can move OR shoot? And since a unit leaving a vehicle which has moved can shoot but not move, why would their shooting count as moving??
Please can someone explain this as it seems to me somewhat nonsensical and contradictory...

there shooting doesnt count as moving. If the vehicle doesnt move and the unit disembarks. It is allowed to move shoot and assault. However if the vehicle moved and the unit disembarks they are only allowed to shoot.

If you disembark you count as having moved when you try to shoot. So this generally means you cannot shoot heavy weapons, you cannot fire at full range with Rapid Fire weapons, etc.
Secondly if you disembark from a moving vehicle you may shoot, but move no further. In general you are also prohibited from assaulting, unless you are open topped, have the assault vehicle rule, etc
Thirdly if you disembark from a stationary vehicle you may make your normal move, shoot and assault (unless you do something that denies normal assault, such as shooting rapid fire weapons)

Fixed that for you; there is no longer a Std Assault Vehicle Rule(there is even 2 different ones in the BA Codex)

Right, I think I have it - the "counting as moving" stipulation in relation to disembarkation is only concerned with weapons that have a limitation if they move in the same turn?
So a unit leaving a moving vehicle can shoot, with the exceptions Nos mentioned, and a unit leaving a stationary vehicle can move, shoot & assault; but should they choose to just disembark and make no further movement they are still restricted in what/how certain weapons can fire...(?)

Yes: the act of getting out of the vehicle, while it is not movement (and therefore you dont take difficult terrain checks if you disembark into terrain, for example) COUNTS AS movement.
Once you have moved you are restricted in what happens when you shoot, as normal.
