I know more DE stuff is coming soon but since I'm on a very tight budget, I'm afraid a new battleforce will be more like the new ones: aka 2 troops, one light vehicle and miscelaneous crap.

Also the terrain would come in handy, seeing I have nearly none

I'm currently trying to decide between keeping IG (less than 1000 points) or going for some other army. And I always enjoyed playing the fast and fragile underdog

If you like the old models, go for it

If not, wait and see what GW is cooking up

I don't personally feel like the Battleforce is a great value. The terrain is kind of shoddy (any of GW's plastic tree sprues make me feel this way, though), and while a Raider and a squad of Warriors are nice, Reaver Jetbikes are currently of limited application (and now that they use the Eldar Jetbike rules, not as effective as they once were).

I personally feel you'd get a better value out of a box of Warriors, a Raider, and some sturdier third-party terrain.

Just tough it out until the actual Dark Eldar release in November. Save the 90 bucks you were going to spend now, and pool that with whatever other money you want to save through November. At that point you can blow a bit more money and get some much prettier stuff.

My thoughts exactly; I'm not buying anything new until I see what the new DE models look like. I may then work on a new Dark Eldar army, or continue on with my Blood Angels successors.

The old battleforce has old models, which are ugly. Unless you like the old models. Then go ahead and get the old battleforce.

Everything says no, unless you want to get your models for cheaper. The price of the DE battleforce is undoubtedly going to double when the codex comes out, but it is much more likely to come with models which are actually useful to the new codex and the new rules edition, and are likely to look less hideous.

You will save a bundle, but you will get what you pay for.

Should buy the box? It's up to you. It could be a blessing, or a curse. We don't know how usefull those units will be with the next codex. Perhaps the jetbikes will be amazing, but they could also be gak. Flip a coin, heads buy it, tails don't.

Or perhaps after the new codex is released(hopefully a new Battleforce as well), perhaps some local hobby shops will sell it to you at a lower price because of the new force?

Now why would the price double? I just checked the GW website, and all the battle-forces are $108CAD, except for 'Nids($130CAD) and Guard($115 CAD).
I very much doubt that the new DE battleforce would be $216CAD.
