My apologies if this gets asked all the time, but can a heavy weapon fire on the turn it drops in?

Cheers,

No, the pod counts as moving at cruising speed and the occupants count as moving.

Of course, an infantry unit that hasn't moved can fire a heavy weapon at the drop pod, but I don't think that was the question you were asking!

I have found again and again that in encounter actions, the day goes to the side that is the first to plaster its opponent with fire. The man who lies low and awaits developments usually comes off second best. - Erwin Rommel

Huh?

Do you mean "Can a model who has disembarked from a Drop Pod on the turn it has arrived from reserves via Deep Strike fire a Heavy weapon?"

If so, then the answer can be found on page 67, under "Disembarking" and page 27 under "Heavy". Remember that special rules such as "Relentless" may also be relevant.

See how I answered it in a GW Attack Panda proof way?

GW attack panda?

Thanks for the answers guys. I played a game against BA the other day with no rulebook on hand, and they guy insisted he could use his missile launcher on the turn it arrived. Cheeky bastard!

Indeed! BA terminators may select drop pods as dedicated transports.

@Ktulhut: And what Gwar alludes to is that it is a forum violation as well as a GW copyright "no-no" to give wholesale rules as answers.

In future, when in doubt, ask your opponent to show you where in the codex or rulebook a specific permission is granted.

Keeps the game honest, and is a great way to become proficient at all the rules.

Ah, ok. And I wasn't really asking for a rules quote, more just a yes/no answer, although Gwar was kind enough to tell me the relevant pages to read.

No. They Can't.

Their transport options are very specific; and Drop pod is not one of those options.

However Wolfguard who buy TDA(wolfguard terminators) can still ride in a drop pod.

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.
Stop looking for buzz words and start reading the whole sentences.

I don't think they can actually... Though they can fall from the sky in a Land Raider :-P

Templars Terminators can take pods. A seldom used option, but still, it's possible.

Actually, that's entirely possible, and awesome. Use a land raider purely as a mobile drop pod with better weapons. Interesting, expensive, and no more armour level 14 for the termies to hide in, but still very interesting.

In regards to landraiders:

thank you for stating that correctly. i got tired of correcting people in the precodex rumor phase when they kept referring to it as a flying land raider. it's not flying... it simply fell!!!

Ask any pilot... flying is nothing more than falling and missing the ground.
