Alrighty, as I paint up the first hunk of my army from AoBR, I've noticed a few things molded into my Nobz that are in the Ork Codex, but not on the list of gear in the book that came with AoBR. I think, at least. The items include stikkbombs, and what -may- be some sort of bosspole. I know what a normal bosspole looks like, but the Codex lists a few other things that show the Nobz status, including a metal jaw. One of my Nobz has a great big metal jaw. For that matter, what about the standard looking thing on the Warboss?

While I'm at it, another question I have, how are twin-linked weapons visually represented?

Lastly, while I'm on the topic of representing things and accessorizing my orks, anybody know of any guides out there for making my own wargear? I've about got a buzzsaw for one of my deffkoptas figured out, but I'm curious about working up other gear from scratch so I can get the rest of the boyz some extra kit.

Oh, forgot to add, if anybody knows, if these items are as I think they are, any idea if they're figured into the point cost of the army? If I've gotta I will indeed figure it out, but I figure I'll just ask to see if someone knows off the top of their head.

The standard looking thing on the Warboss is a bosspole. Bosspoles come in all shapes and sizes. Basically, if it's stylized and extends above the Ork's head, it's a bosspole. And Nob status is really just denoted by larger Orks, they don't have to have metal jaws. In fact, 'Ard Boyz can have metal jaws to represent their 'eavy armour.

Look at the AoBR Warboss's shoota. See how it has two barrels? That's a twin-linked shoota. Normal shootas typically only have one barrel. A second barrel is what denotes twin-linkage.

Well... like what? For Buzzsaws, I used the buzzsaw-bladed arm from the Nobz box on two Deffkoptas, and the blade from one of their chain-axes for one more. What else are you trying to represent?

They're not, as far as I know. I don't believe AoBR Nobz or Boyz have things like Stikkbombs or Bosspoles, but it's worth checking to see. Their wargear should be listed in the AoBR army booklet. You can GIVE them these items, though, and just pay the proper amount of points for them. Nothing stops you from doing that.

If you have the codex, just put the AoBR booklet away. Throw it away. Run away from it.

The AoBR booklet is a set of minor half rules that may be good for introducing someone who doesn't really have a complex game mindset into the game, but if you have an idea about wargear, point values and stuff already, it will do nothing but confuse you in its crazy mediocrity.

The rulebook from AoBR is fine, I'm just talking about the actual AoBR "learn to play" booklet.

Pretty much, yeah.

But I can't stress enough how you want to hold onto that little AoBR rulebook. I love the thing. Guard it with your life, keep it with you always. It's the same as the big rulebook, with the unnecessary fluff and frills removed, distilled down to the rules and the rules only. It's a thing of beauty.

And most important, it's not only thin because of what SaintHazard explained, but pocket size.

That's also priceless.

A Treasure most profound. The little Grey book that warms my pocket and guards my soul from heretical cheaters!

Also littlenibbler Orks aren't about armour saves.
Orks are about having too many models on the table, and wasting the other guy's time with your movement phase.
Orks are about having the toughest units on the table.
Orks are about not caring about how many bodies are left in a long winding trail until the squad is down to less than a third its starting strength.
Orks are about rolling more dice then you can count without the aid of a calculator or a pen and paper.
Orks are about having totally fething insane characters tearing gak down like Doc Grotsnik, Ghazghkull or Snikrot.
Orks are about being too fething awesome to die...
Lets settle this in the arena http://pantsformer.mybrute.com
