Hey, can't be as bad as Super Zombies 4: This time in 3-D (Resident Evil Afterlife).

M Night Shakkalakkadingdong at least tries to be creative with his work.

You guys do know that he didn't write the script or direct it right? I'm not sure calling it his movie is all that accurate. Aside from that it usually is a bad sign when screeners are withheld from critics. Of course maybe they just want to make sure that the twist ending , which I'm sure is mind blowing and life changing, isn't given away.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

I can't tell if a movie has the name of the person it is from on it, if it is actually from him.

So, what is he creditied for if he didn't write/direct?

I would have seen both Airbender and Devil without his name attached to it.

The movie pandered too much to the 3-D effects. Unlike Avatard, which tried to deliver a movie and place the 3-D effects on a secondary or tertiary level, RE4 went with 3-D effects first, THEN used a plot as a vehicle for the effects.

And way too much slow animation for my tastes.

Well that could be ok, but as noted, keeping the film from prescreening when even Resident Evil 4: the Quest for More Cash was given out to review is nicht gut!

They stopped putting SK's name on his "based on" movies. Too bad they did it after "Scary Cat People" or whatever that crap was titiled...

M. Night Shaq-fu is one of my least favorite people.

Especially because all the trailers his films tend to look interesting up until the dreaded " A FILM FROM M. NIGHT. SHAM-WOW " slowly fades onto the screen.

And yes, this post was mostly to make fun of his name.

I actually like most of his films. And the point that his name on the screen mean bubcus if you want to see it see it. dont let his name just being there deter you.

Actually is name is a good deterrent now for crappy movies than have been universally panned by people who saw that there was a twist coming.

SWEAR to some higher power he gets off this kick for introducing twists into movies. The first movie he does this to he'll instantly be a movie making GOD again....maybe.

I think M. Night Shamallamallamallamaduck gets alot of un-deserved heat. I mean, there are alot worse directors than him. He did at least five movies that I actually found very enjoyable:

- Signs
- The Sixth Sense
- The Village
- Lady in the Water (Yeah, something about this one just appeals to me)
- Unbreakable

I agree with the first two and the last one, and number 4 was alright as the twist ending was actually okay. Lady in the Water was meh in my book, so I give you 3.5 out of 5 stars for guessing which of M. Night Sabcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz's movies were good.

I saw that with a friend on Tuesday. I rather enjoy Resident Evil films. The trick with films like that is to ignore the more ridiculous plot concepts, accept the plot as is, watch the fight scenes, what passes for character development, guess who will make it to the next round and enjoy a bit of Milla of course. There is a lot of imagination behind those films, and despite the fact the plot is fairly flighty it is consistent and because of this the film will suprise you. I prefer a weak but consistent suprising plot to a more logical but heavily predictable plot. When I watched the film I had no idea where it would end up. and thus thoroughly enjoyed it. This does mean that it does have limited re-watchability, due to its long term quality issues. So I am happy to watch a Resident Evil film once only, but am happy for that once to be at a cinema.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. By the juice of the brew my thoughts aquire speed, my mind becomes strained, the strain becomes a warning. It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion.

I think that is the reason for the hate (though I would take 3 and 4 off that list). He started so strong, with such promise, and has slowly devolved into a shadow of his original self. It is almost as if he is a parody of himself.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

Sixth sense and unbreakable were the only movies of those listed above that were any good. Shamalama is a one trick pony. The village might have been alright if I didn't instantly know it was fake, because it was a Shamalama movie. That's the problem. I know what to look for in his movies. If six sense came out today I would instantly know the ending as soon as Bruce shows up. The problem always seams that the solution is so unsatisfying after you think about it.

Village, you mean no planes have ever flown over that village......EVER.
Signs, Why try to take over a planet that is 3/4 water and rains if water is like acid to you and you don't wear clothes?.....Craptasic. At least earth germs make sense. Hey guys lets conquer this planet, it's atmosphere is mostly chlorine gas...what do you mean bring a respirator?

I bet in this devil movie they are already in hell and don't know it. I'm calling it.

The problem with Signs is the ending, but up until that point it is a decent thriller.

Yeah.

I'm still waiting for a reasonable explanation as to why aliens who don't like water would invade a planet where water is an abundant resource...
