Deep in your mind

If a spirit stone was destroyed, what would happen?I think a shock-wave of pure psychic power would kill if not decapitate anyone near and a mist would follow in a small area

If I recall correctly that happens with wraithgaurd, but not the spirit stones on like aspect warriors. If those break I think they just shatter and the soul inside is immediately devoured by slaneesh. There'd probably be some sort of rule regarding this if the spirit stones on every warrior exploded like that and.

This. The soul goes into the warp and slaanesh does everything it can do hunt it down. As he/shes staked a claim on every Eldar soul. Not sure with wraith guard but think the soul dies permanently if their construct is destroyed. When a normal living eldar dies the soulstones capture them the first time round. It takes a lot it seems to destroy a soulstone.

How does a soul die permanently? or how is it consumed?

Just Consumed; a Wraithguard(or lord) that has it's soulstone shattered will also release the Edlar Soul into the Warp where Slaneesh Will consume it.

Having ones soul consumed is quite easy actually once you factor in that it is generally Chaos GODS what do the consuming.

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.

I understand the first part, but could you elaborate with your last point?

IIRC, there was a Black Library novel that basically suggested that when the Wraithguard bodies die, or indeed just about any Eldar dies, his/her soul is moved into a sort of "soul well" where it can be placed into a new soul stone at a later time...

whether that applies to if the stone is broken by whatever means or not, i wouldn't know.

Being consumed could be either

A: the God in question(and by god I mean Being of Deific power) literally Eats the Soul

or

B: The God in question Subsumes the Soul into its own essence making it a part of him/her/it and thereby becoming even stronger(sort of "Highlander-esque")

We are talking about pretty much Literal gods here, so it is very likely it can be either or both of those

What's it like to be consumed?

Do they retain consciousness as part of Slaanesh or is it the end of their existence?

I imagine it would suck. A lot.

It's the end. Do not pass go, do not collect $200.

The worst thing is that since the Eldar have stronger minds and souls than a human, they are conscious for all this. Ignoring the standard problem of being conscious and unprotected within the warp, it also means that they feel the pain of being devoured by Slaanesh. Humans are lucky in that when they die they just pass into oblivion.

I dunno, oblivion doesn't seem quite right to me. It's like energy, it cannot be created or destroyed. I'm thinking, and this is my opinion I'm not shoving it down peoples throats, that it does become part of the god in question's essence. And then they are tortured for eternity, or until the god is dispelled, which is unlikely, depending on the god.

Energy can't be destroyed, no... but it can become part of something else.

That doesn't mean consciousness is necessarily preserved: Perhaps Slaanesh just gains another facet to his incredible mind?

I'd think chaos gods would rather keep the consciousness of the souls intact, probably for the pleasure of seeing them being violated and stuff.

quick reference to stargate if anyone's seen it. The ori get stronger the more people worship them. Perhaps the same happens with souls. The more they have under their power, the stronger they get.

But I do agree with the idea that they could become part of the god's incredible mind.

Interesting idea... do you think that the soul bound psychers that the Emperor consumes become a part of his soul and make it stronger?

Those souls seen to me to be in a quasi state between normal human and developed psychic (as all Eldar are) where if they died normally, the soul would survive but be so weak that it could be easily preyed upon by deamons. Is the Emperor being kind and mercifull by doing this?

Well isn't that a psychological humdinger... I think.

I think so, wasn't there a book, the name escapes me, where an inquisitor is allowed to speak with the Emporer personally. The Emporer slows time in the palace so as to allow the inquisitor to get close with out the custodes interfering. But everytime the Emporer spoke, he referred to himself as WE. WE becuase he had to split himself up to be albe to watch over all of humanity. Perhaps those souls assist in this?

your soul is consumed the same an amoeba conumed a cell. The warp entity absorbs the energy is which is your soul. This sensation lasts all eternity.

This is why the heretical xenos should just worship the emprah and then they can eternally party with his metaphysical bad self in the warp

There is one reading in one of the chaos codexes about a daemonprince eating an autarchs soulstone (as in literally picking it up and putting it in his mouth) which dooms him to eteran torture in the warp.

Fun.

If I recall correctly, their is a nice section of Eisenhorn Xenos that describes wha happens when your soul is consumed by Chaos.

It is not a nice thing.

yah why don't we just get EVERYONE to join the emprah in an eternal party! That actually wouldn't be a bad idea... Except the necrons would get left out, and maybe some pariahs... but who wants them, they're a bunch of party poopers.

And sometimes human souls hang on for an hour or two, maybe a day before they dissolve. Eldar soulstone are candy to deamons.
