Hello dakka, I finally bought a Fallshirmjaeger troops box, and I am a bit overwhelmed on the assembly/basing process. It's sometimes quite difficult to tell who goes on the command squad, or which model goes on the base with the panzerschrek. A friend of mine is also having this issue with his Strelkovy Batalon. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Look at the chart in the amry list from your Intelligence Handbook (ie, Eastern Front, North Africa, etc) and for the unit in question, it will show how many figures to a stand.

Some units have a 5-man team and a 4-man team to a squad/section. So make sure to follow how it is listed in your army list.

As far as what exact model is in your commnad section; if it is difficult to tell....just go to the FoW site to their product store and you can look it up. They have fully painted pics of each unit, so this at least, can be used as a guide as to what fig they use for their command and such.

Bit late to this but I wouldn't get too hung up on the number of troops on a stand. Even the larger infantry bases can look a bit cramped with 5 on there so allot of people only put 4 on (more stands of troops that way as well )

Take a look on the FoW website forum you will find lots of this sort of info there.

Thank you, I got it figured out once I sorted every figure into groups and the like. Now the fun of painting camo on 15mm!

Hey also as afar as the bases go, I use the battlefront resin bases. its a little easier than all that putty and you can do a lot with them. I have carved and cut them and trimmed to get different pieces. I then used the vallejo acrylic sand to fill in the gaps. Make sure to take the time to really clean the flash and file down the any lines. once you get an assembly line going it goes fast.

P.S. I know some guys paint them mount them, but i never had a problem mounting and spraying a base coat.

The difficult anytime, the impossible by appointment only!!

Quoted for truth. You really can fudge the numbers on infantry bases, as long as it's reasonable. No one anywhere should ever give you crap about having four guys on a base instead of five, Battlefront has even suggested using fewer troops on a base to represent veteran units that have been in combat and taken some casualties.

I almost always put just four men on an infantry base. In most cases, five just looks too cramped to me.
