I'm in need of an army case. I need it mostly to storage infantry (marines/guardsman) & terminator sized models, might need room for tanks aswell though.

Can you guys recommend me which is the best?

but the actual trays are ruined. Should i consider just buying new trays or what do you guys recommend?

Also people got any idea what kind of trays would fit my old army case(maybe cheaper option other than buying from army transports website?)

The War Store sells replacement Sabol trays. The nice thing is that in your case you can buy the trays you need instead of having to deal with too big of trays.If you're planning an order don't forget the quarter inch bottom-of-tray is not part of the tray height as sold. For example, a 1 inch tray is actually 1.25 inches tall, and a 3 inch tray is 3.25. You've got a set budget for each case and can fill it up as needed... For example, i've got a lot of my Heavy gear stuff in 1.5 inch trays (although i might move to 2 so I can stand them up reliably) and can fit a bunch in a small Sabol case if I don't care about a 3 inch tray for big stuff. (The HG tanks generally fit in a 1 inch tray with turrets removed. Striders may need a larger tray...)

Those foams fit perfectly in small comic book boxes.

Those boxes store/stack awsomely. They are cheap.

I use a mix of Sabol Trays and "Blu" Trays (which I find to be stronger than any other tray out there). If you have the bag, you may as well fill it up with trays. Sabol could be obtained from TheWarstore or any FLGS. "Blu" Foam is something that one FLGS in my area sells, and the only place on the internet I've found it was Miniatures Market. I've bought both, and it's the same stuff:

If you already have somewhat of an investment in destroyed Sabol trays, consider putting them in my favorite carrying case:

It goes by many names, it's cheaper than any other case out there, it's collapsable, it's made of strong hard plastic, and is available in many places. It's strong enough that I can carry my models through the New York Metro just fine. You can usually find it at Office Depot, Office Max, Home Depot, Lowe's, or even Bed Bath and Beyond.


One thing you may want to do is keep things consistent. If you have/use Sabol-sized trays, keep using Sabol-sized trays for your entire army. You can use Sabol Trays, BLU Foam, Outrider Foam, or even Battlefoam in Sabol Size. Sabol also sells an "extra large" foam base that's twice as wide for storing things such as Baneblades or Land Raiders. People seem to love KR for their price, but their sizes are not compatable with Sabol; considering you already have a case, it may not be the best choice. Same with Battlefoam and GW, but those are different sizes [i]and[/] they carry a large price tag.

I use Sabol. Their cases (motor pool and a mark II) work great for me, and the foam's not too shabby for the price, either. I have the doublewide ones Absolutionis spoke of, and they transport a Vendetta perfectly. What damaged the ones you had?

Can't say for sure about Sabol-sized trays, but Battlefoam's GW-sized trays hold more infantry than standard, so if that's what you're putting in them, that could be your best choice.
