Hey everyone,
So the last time I put a St. Celestine figure up, she got ripped apart, critiqued out the nose, then the guy stiffed me the money. So this time, I want just the first two things!
This was a commissioned piece I did for a friend down at my LCGS; he owns about 5k worth of Chaos Marines, so when he told me he wanted a St. Celestine done up for his army, I was a little confuddled....and frankly, I still am...
Anyways, this is the (almost) final result:

Something just isn't working for me on the piece as a whole. First off, the pictures didn't turn out as well as I wanted them to. Secondly, the gold on the armor isn't coming out how I wanted it either. I went for a weathered, patina-look by washing everything in Hawk Turquoise, then toning it down with Badab Black, which worked ok...
Anyways, I'll have more pictures up on my blog, as well as the client's response to the figure.
Thanks,
Granesh

Looking nice from what I can see from the picture. But I think you should take some better pictures. This one is little bit blurry

But seems like you've selected nice colours and they fit together pretty well. But Base could be better to be honest. Now the shape of 25mm round base on top of 40mm base is too obious. So next time use some putty or something to smoothen those edges so it will look better.

But take better pictures so we can say more.

nice work so far, although some constructive crit for you,

It does look "over" washed, I would if you are looking for that particular weathered look, to use a glazed Verdegris from Valejo, and then rather than wash, glaze over a darker tone to add depth rather than use of GW washes as they can come out rather heavy even when applied in small amounts.

For the armour base, i personally start off with a tin bits, work up to gun metal then gradent in with mithril, and use metal medium for the extreme glints, Apply a pigment glaze over that, (usually in a rustic green personally) to add a slightly battered look, the verdegris mentioned above will work wonders over that around the lining of bolts and mottled over armour work.

Flesh tones although i am also learning better techniques for these, are wonderous done in multi gradents in standard GW tones, and then using oil glazes over the top to truely blend them together and add depth again.

I hope these tips come in handy, and so far, really good work, its always great to aspire to new techniques and tones above ones skill, its how we learn!

Hey guys,
Thanks for the comments, especially from Khargrim! I actually don't use washes on anything but metals, its honestly just how the pictures and the lighting in the pictures are. Here's some redone pictures, I hope these turned out better:

You can make out the Verdigris look I wanted pretty well in the pictures. I'll admit I rushed a little bit on the model, but that's for my own reasons and in no way reflects my usual Commission standards. As for the getting stiffed, it was the LAST St. Celestine model I did, and involved an eCheck that ended up bouncing and some other stuff that went wrong, so live and learn, and I don't let that mistake happen again.
Thanks guys,
Granesh
