Hey everyone, in my early years of life, I listen to all type of music. It was all garbage, later I found what Metal was! (yay!).

Now all I listen to is Metallica, Mastodon, and System Of A Down. (Mostly Metallica) Know I don't know if there is a real meaning for Metal music, I don't know if the bands I listed are even considered Metal.

So my problem is that I don't much of that, I feel ashamed to call myself a MetalHead If thats all I know. So I want to see if there are more artists that appel to me. So that is Why I need dakka's help.

So things I like in Metal, Awesome lead singers. Something different, a sounds that are harmonic (such as Mastodon).

Dislikes- Screamo, I really hate screamo, I like to hear what they are saying not AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.

So please Help me! Post anything that I might like.

Where the feth is Shadowbrand when you need him?

Ultrafool, just look up the list of threads Shadowbrand has started.

And then ignore all the bands you read about there in favor of Iron Maiden.

Some good stuff already mentioned. Here are a few of my personal favorites.

Blind Guardian: Power metal

Danzig: More traditional metal with a pretty heavy blues influence

Dio: One of the true legends of metal.

Hammerfall: Power metal again

Judas Priest: Metal gods!

Manowar: Traditional metal and power metal

And I'll leave off with some Sabaton. Probably my favorite band to get started in the last ten years or so

I'm just talkin' about Megaweapon.

Thanks for the suggestions FeistierErmine, but I don't really like the viking metal, but that holy diver song is AWESOME.

haha Budgie Breadfan. I have the CD. I remember the first time I heard it it sounded like it was the singer from the band in Jabba's Palace - before that scene too was ruined.

Black Sabbath. You seek Black Sabbath. The first 8 albums with Ozzy are all good. The last 2 aren't as good as the first 6, but still have some good tunes on them. There are 3 albums with Dio. The first two are great. The third one, Dehumanizer, is OK+. All the other bands listed above are good too, but Sabbath is the source.

So stop downloading whatever it is and put Sabbath at the front of the queue.

I listen to it while I paint. He plays a good variety of older metal.

With a few notable exceptions, most of the stuff posted in this thread has been totally gay.

I like my metal brutal.

And I'll end it with the title track from from Pantera's best album:

I almost always agree with Albatross, I can't see why anyone wouldn't.

Whatever you do Ultrafool there is one genre of metal you should never be caught listening to and that is "Glam Metal" avoid it like the plague.
